Dr. Fe del Mundo was a pioneering Filipino pediatrician who broke many barriers for women in medicine. She achieved several historic firsts, including becoming the first Filipino certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, the first female president of several medical organizations, the first Asian president of the Medical Womenโ€™s International Association, and the Philippinesโ€™ first female National Scientist in 1980.
