𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐒𝐜𝐢 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐠 𝟏𝟏 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐒𝐏𝐂 '𝟐𝟔, 𝟐 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐒𝐏𝐂

CAUAYAN CITY— Campus journalists from Cauayan City Science and Technology High School secured 11 awards across individual and team events during the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2026 held at Cauayan City National High School from September 12 to 13.

School delegations earned seven recognitions in the English category and four in the Filipino category, with two student journalists qualifying for the upcoming Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) 2026 held at Santiago City, Isabela.

Leading the Filipino category were Carl Justine C. Sacang, who captured 1st Place in Science and Technology Reporting, and Hanna Crishia D. Agustin, who placed 3rd in Column Writing, both advancing to the regional competition.

In the English category, The Moonlight Digital produced six individual awardees alongside a 3rd Place finish in Best Script recognition in Radio Broadcasting and Script Writing .

The awards marked another strong showing for CauSci after the publication recorded 10 awards and five RSPC qualifiers in the 2025 edition of the annual press conference.

"As the Editor-In-Chief of Gintong Butil, it was really overwhelming and there was a lot of pressure during the competition—moving forward, I was really happy to have balanced it although out and was even able to finally achieve 1st place in my category," Sacang, RSPC qualifier said.

“We felt the pressure since last year. After bagging 10 awards in the DSPC and being hailed as an NSPC winner, expectations were high. We also didn’t have the luxury of time to train. But through the dedication and diligence of my fellow coaches, we strategized, maximized the time we had, and worked together to prepare our journalists,” said Galvin Klein L. Domingo, School Paper Adviser.

A total of 45 campus journalists represented CauSci during the division meet, competing in various writing, broadcasting, photojournalism, and editorial events under the mentorship of eight coaches.

With two journalists set to represent the school in RSPC 2026, CauSci continues its commitment to developing truthful, responsible, and competitive campus journalists in the region.

CAUAYAN CITY — The Schools Division Office of Cauayan City recognized Cauayan City Science and Technology High School’s The Moonlight for its outstanding performance at the 2026 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), where it was hailed as the Philippines’ Best School Publication, during the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) on Saturday, September 12.

The recognition highlights The Moonlight’s historic achievement at the NSPC 2026, where it was named among the country’s Best Secondary School Papers in English. The publication’s feat marked its first-ever NSPC appearance and placed Cauayan City Science and Technology High School alongside the top-performing school publications nationwide.

The Moonlight’s national recognition followed its strong performance at the 2026 Regional Schools Press Conference, where it secured a spot among the region’s top school papers and earned its first NSPC berth. Its achievement culminated in its inclusion in the NSPC national exhibit at SM Center Ormoc, showcasing the publication as one of the country’s finest student-led school papers.

The recognition was presented during the opening program of the SDO Cauayan City Division Schools Press Conference 2026 on Saturday, September 12, as the division honored The Moonlight for bringing pride and distinction to Cauayan City through its national achievement.

𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐒𝐜𝐢 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐇 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐈𝐒𝐀 ‘𝟐𝟓

CAUAYAN CITY— As one of the 206 sample schools nationwide, Cauayan City Science and Technology High School significantly contributed to the Philippines’ improved performance in the PISA 2025 results released Tuesday, September 8.

Thirty-nine PISA takers from CauSci participated in the assessment, representing the school in the national evaluation. The Philippines recorded notable increases across all three domains, with Science rising from 354 in 2022 to 373 in 2025, Mathematics from 355 to 371, and Reading from 347 to 367.

The results marked gains of 19 points in Science, 16 points in Mathematics, and 20 points in Reading, reflecting the country’s improved performance compared with its 2022 PISA results.

The Philippines emerged as the fastest-improving country in reading, while also showing positive gains in science and mathematics. These improvements gave the country its highest PISA scores since joining the assessment in 2018.

The country also outperformed several participating nations across all three domains, outranking 14 countries in Science, 16 countries in Mathematics, and 18 countries in Reading, further highlighting the Philippines’ improved standing in the 2025 assessment.

Schools Division Superintendent Cherry S. Ramos emphasized that the success of the 39 PISA takers from CauSci was a collective effort of teachers, school administrators, and stakeholders. She also expressed her gratitude to the LGU of Cauayan City and the SDO Cauayan City for their unwavering support.

According to Galvin Klein Domingo, one of CauSci’s PISA coordinators and a reading facilitator, the school focused on strengthening learners’ functional literacy skills as part of its preparation for the large-scale assessment.

“The strategy we employed was to strengthen functional literacy in reading, particularly through skills such as skimming and scanning. These helped learners understand the items better, identify relevant information, and formulate appropriate responses,” he said.

“We’re happy that the results are finally out. All our hard work paid off, and now we can proudly say that we nailed it,” Allyn Cardona, a PISA 2025 taker, said.

The PISA 2025 assessment was conducted at Cauayan City Science and Technology High School (CauSci) on March 20, 2025, with the results released today after more than a year of waiting. CauSci’s participation and preparation of its 39 takers marked another significant contribution to DepEd’s and the country’s improved PISA performance.

CAUAYAN CITY - The court cheered with excitement as 15 elementary and secondary schools from the Cauayan Northeast District gathered at Union Elementary School for the much-awaited CNED Meet 2026, a one day event to present athletes' skills, excellence, and sportsmanship on Saturday, August 15.

The event began with a grand opening ceremony featuring energetic athlete yells, vibrant performances, and inspiring messages from education and barangay officials. Leaders emphasized that sports go beyond physical strength, as they also help develop discipline, teamwork, and resilience among the youth.

In his inspirational message, School Governance and Operations Division Chief, Marlon C. Bortolome highlighted the value of discipline and sportsmanship. "In every training session, we must be disciplined and have willingness—in every game we play, we must remain grounded and instill in sportsmanship," he added.

Barangay Kagawad Ronald Antonio of Union, being the spokesperson for the barangay captain also conveyed his full support and gratitude for the meet, assuring athletes and coaches of the local government’s steadfast support for sports development.

Student-athletes will participate in various sports including basketball, volleyball, athletics, sepak takraw, chess, and badminton, representing their respective schools in each event.

As the competitions unfold, the CNED Meet 2026 is expected to deliver competitive matches, team achievements, and stronger connections among athletes, highlighting sports’ role in promoting unity within the campus community.

CAUAYAN CITY — Cauayan City Science and Technology High School (CauSci) strategized its after-class training sessions to sharpen athletes’ skills, discipline, and performance in preparation for the upcoming CNED Meet ’26 on Thursday, August 14.

With the Department of Education (DepEd) policy emphasizing the non-disruption of regular classes, the school strategically scheduled training sessions after class hours to allow athletes to prepare for the competition without compromising their academic responsibilities.

The after-class training program enabled coaches to maximize the available time while providing athletes with focused practice in their respective events.

Jayson Pascua, basketball coach, emphasized that the after-class training allows the players to prepare consistently while keeping their regular classes uninterrupted. “The players are committed to training after class to prepare for CNED Meet 2026,” he said.

Adrian Jake Pascua, Tennis player, expressed his determination. “We have been training hard even in limited time because we are preparing for a tough competition. We know our opponents are strong, and we have the eagerness to bring home the championship,” he said.

CauSci looks to carry its winning tradition into CNED Meet ’26 as its athletes turn after-class training into an opportunity to sharpen their skills and compete for another championship.
