Cauayan City, Isabela โ The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL), in collaboration with the Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) of Isabela State University (ISU) Cauayan, successfully conducted the second installment of the Intellectual Property, Food Regulatory Certification, and Fabrication Laboratory Services Roadshow on August 8, 2024, at the Bamboo Hall, Cauayan City Hall.
The roadshow, aimed at bringing essential services closer to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), attracted 21 businesses from various sectors, including coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, and other industries. The event provided these enterprises with direct access to vital services, such as intellectual property registration and food regulatory certifications, which are crucial for their growth and competitiveness in the market.
A key highlight of the roadshow was the on-the-spot trademark registration, where six MSMEs took advantage of the opportunity to apply for trademark protection. This initiative is expected to bolster the brand identity and legal protection of these businesses, allowing them to compete more effectively in their respective markets.
Expert speakers from DTI and IPOPHIL shared their knowledge with the participants. STIDS Mary Rose Dumpit of DTI Region 2 Isabela, Engr. Janica Tacazon from the IPOPHIL Field Office 02, and Engr. Mark Vincent Dy from ISU Cauayan delivered presentations on critical topics such as intellectual property rights, food safety regulations, and the utilization of FabLab services for product development. Their insights were instrumental in equipping MSMEs with the knowledge they need to navigate the challenges of the modern business landscape.
This event marks the second run of the roadshow series, following the successful launch on July 5, 2024. The ongoing success of these roadshows highlights the commitment of DTI and IPOPHIL to empower MSMEs by providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in todayโs competitive environment.
The roadshow is part of DTIโs broader efforts to support local businesses, fostering innovation and ensuring that MSMEs have access to the resources they need to grow and succeed.
