The 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 & 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙊𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚 (𝘼𝘾𝙃𝙀𝙋) of 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐑 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐘 joins the nation as it celebrates creativity with National Arts Month 2026 by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 683.

This year, its overarching theme “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting”, underscores how the arts uphold truth, courage, and collaboration and how it contributes to building livable communities, responsible governance, and a sustainable society. llustrating that art is not merely the product of the creative mind, also highlights arts as the outcome of peoples’ shared experiences and collective aspirations. As an expression of truth and valor, art becomes a wellspring of hope and a guiding force towards a more just and progressive society.

SSU ranked 5th during the Regional Culture and the Arts Festival Competition 2025 held at Palompon Institute of Technology

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: Here are the final and official tallies and rankings of the participating State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) of the recently concluded Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Region VIII-Regional Culture and Arts Festival (RCAF) 2025 hosted by Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) , December 10-12.

PIT secured a fourth-place overall finish with 77 points, based on the point system awarding 10, 7, 5, 3, and 1 point to first-fifth place finishers across various competitions.

Leyte Normal University (LNU) emerged as Overall Champion with 175 points, while Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) and Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) claimed First Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up garnering 96 and 91 points, respectively.

The said drama will feature the poem 𝑷𝒂𝒌𝒔𝒊𝒘 𝒏𝒈𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒑𝒐𝒕, 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒌𝒂𝒏 𝒏𝒈𝒂 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒌𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒔 by the Catbaloganon poet, Anecito O. Llaneta.

It will also feature the rich fishing heritage and culture among Catbaloganons like the 𝑷𝒂𝒈𝒕𝒖𝒃𝒂𝒔 𝑹𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍 performed by the fisherfolks during lean seasons.

The drama reintroduces a local folklore popular among the island-settlers of Catbalogan about the mythical sea creature believed to thrive in the underwater kingdom of Catbalogan seas- the 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐰 (mermaid/man).

The mystical underwater world is dominated by their king, 𝐇𝐚𝐝𝐢 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐧, whose power will be challenged by his own daughter, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐚 - all because of her love for 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐞, a fishing lad - whose love story began in one full moon at the Bay of Maqueda.

Be caught by the captivating dramaturgy of Samar State University's faculty and students at the Catbalogan City Plaza, on August 30, 2025, 7:00PM.

Congratulations to our talents of Samar State University who bagged major prizes in the recently concluded Pasikat Este 2025.

1st Runner-up: 𝐌𝐬. 𝐇𝐚𝐳𝐞𝐥 𝐃. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧
2nd Runner-up: 𝐏𝐢𝐤𝐭𝐚𝐰 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞.

Pasikat ESTE is a regional intercollegiate talent competition in Samar Island, Philippines. This year is the second season of the competition, specifically an the "Intercollegiate Edition".

The competition features students from various colleges and universities showcasing their talents, with the grand finals taking place in Dolores, Eastern Samar on August 13, 2025.

Marasigan and the Piktaw Cultural Ensemble received Php 50,000 and Php25,000, respectively.
