Samar State University proudly joined todayโ€™s vibrant parade in support of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, held in time with two major university and community celebrations โ€” SSU Charter Day and Palaro 2025.

Wearing orange and carrying the call for a VAW-Free Philippines, students, faculty, and staff marched together to show their strong commitment to womenโ€™s rights, safety, and empowerment. The parade highlighted unity across the SSU community, proving that advocacy, sportsmanship, and institutional pride can move forward hand in hand.

SAGWAN Office extend their gratitude to everyone who participated and helped amplify the message of ending violence against women.

Together, we continue to champion a safer and more empowered community.

SSU Celebrates World Children's Month 2025

November is the time we celebrate Childrenโ€™s Month, an important occasion set by Republic Act No. 10661 that highlights the rights and well-being of Filipino children. This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œOSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata Ipaglaban!,โ€ is all about coming together to fight against online sexual abuse and exploitation. It highlights how crucial it is to safeguard every childโ€™s safety and dignity.

This celebration is a great opportunity for our universityโ€™s realization of our Gender and Development Agenda. It helps us push for gender-sensitive and inclusive strategies that support childrenโ€™s rights through early education, advocacy, and community involvement. When we create safe and supportive spaces for every child, we're really helping to reach the Sustainable Development Goals. This includes important areas like ensuring gender equality, quality education, and keeping children safe from violence.

By honoring these mandates, we really show our dedication to raising future generations that feel confident, respected, and secure. Calling SSU Parents (employees and students), letโ€™s come together to tackle the challenge of building strong communities that protect the well-being and potential of every child. We can turn Childrenโ€™s Month into an ongoing effort for a fair, just, and child-friendly society.

Join Us in the 2025 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children!

From November 25 to December 12, letโ€™s unite to create a future where everyoneโ€”especially our youth and childrenโ€”can grow up in safe, gender-equitable environments. With its recurring theme for 2022โ€“2027, โ€œUNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines,โ€ this year's campaign focuses on advancing a whole-of-nation approachโ€” mobilizing diverse voices and key players, including youth as changemakers, men as proactive allies, bystanders as empowered responders, and local leaders as catalysts for policy-driven transformation, in a shared commitment to fully eliminate gender-based violence, empower survivors, and promote justice.

Children and youth are the hope and future of our nationโ€”yet, they are often the most impacted by violence and discrimination. This campaign is for all sectorsโ€”families, schools, communities, and institutionsโ€”to raise awareness, call for inclusive spaces, and nurture a culture of respect and safety for children and young people.

Join us in spreading awareness, advocating for change, and empowering our youth to be allies in building a more just, safe, and gender-sensitive Philippines. Together, we can ensure a world where children thrive free from violence and inequality.

Here is the schedule of activities for SSU's 18-day VAWC Campaign:

November 25, 2025 โ€“ PARADE
November 26, 2025-Educating Children Through Storytelling
November 28, 2025 - GST Training & Seminar on RA 9262
December 4, 2025 - SAYAWIT & PAINTING
December 12, 2025- Awarding and Culminating Program

In promoting violence-free and thriving society, let us all be one with SAGWAN!
