Yesterday, April 10, 2025. A day of celebration, recognition, and culture. The PIKTAW Cultural Ensembles had the honor of performing during the PRAISE Awards Ceremony of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region VIII, held at the prestigious Grand Royale Resort in Catbalogan City, Samar.

Our ensemble graced the stage with vibrant and heartfelt performances that reflected the soul of Samar through powerful rhythms, expressive movements, and traditional folk dances that pay homage to our roots. It was more than just a performance; it was a cultural offering, a tribute to the resilience, artistry, and spirit of our people.

As DOLE gave recognition to exemplary individuals and institutions for their hard work and dedication, we too offered our own expression of excellence through dance, music, and unity. The PRAISE Awards became a meaningful moment not only for awardees but also for us performers who shared in the joy and inspiration of the event.

We are truly grateful for the opportunity to represent Samar State University and share our culture with dignitaries, awardees, and guests from across the region. Thank you, DOLE Region VIII, for letting PIKTAW be part of such a memorable and honorable occasion.

Piktaw Cultural Ensembles Dance Auditions were held and concluded successfully on 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, SSU GYM 3rd-floor dance studio. Thank you to all participants who showcased their skills and passion in the various styles/genres!

On 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, the Piktaw Cultural Ensemble held auditions at the 3rd-floor Dance Studio of the gymnasium, attracting participants from various departments who specialize in different genres of dance, including folk, contemporary, hip-hop, and social dance.

The Samar State University invites talented dancers to audition for the official University dance troupe, the SSU PIKTAW Cultural Ensembles.

Auditions will be held from February 24-28, 1:00-4:00 PM at the SSU Dance Studio.

All dance styles are welcome. Please prepare one audition piece.

The Piktaw Cultural Ensembles showcased their Dance Prowess during the Cultural Night 2025 as part of the 76th Founding Anniversary of Samar Colleges Incorporated.

Samar State University's Piktaw Cultural Ensemble proudly presented a captivating dance performance, that is seamlessly weaved together the traditional Samar dances of Kuratsa Mayor and Tagay-tagayan. This cultural production showcased the ensemble's exceptional artistry and pays tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Samar.
