𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 || The College of Education celebrates 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 on February 2, guided by the theme 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗴 𝗻𝗮 𝗣𝘂𝘀𝗼 𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝘄𝗮; 𝗜𝗻𝗸𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗼, 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻, 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻. The celebration served as a meaningful reminder of the role of values, faith, unity, and hope in shaping both individuals and the academic community.

The activity commenced with a Holy Mass held at the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal–UEP Chaplaincy, attended by the faculty, staff, and students of the College of Education. Following the Mass, the formal program was conducted at the UEP Centennial Building.

In his opening remarks, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐌. 𝐎𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐳, Dean of the College of Education, emphasized the significance of celebrating Values Education Day and National Bible Month as opportunities for reflection in an increasingly fast-paced and distracted world. 𝗛𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲—𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗹—𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴. He further stressed that while Values Education develops moral direction, the Word of God strengthens one’s spiritual foundation, enabling individuals to live purposefully and meaningfully.

The celebration was graced by the presence of 𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐈. 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚, President of the University of Eastern Philippines, who delivered an inspiring message emphasizing unity, collaboration, and character formation. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀. She also expressed the University’s full support for the celebration and recognized the College of Education’s achievements, particularly its continued commitment to academic excellence and program compliance.

The highlight of the program was the Talk Proper delivered by 𝐑𝐞𝐯. 𝐅𝐫. 𝐑𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐎. 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐌𝐀𝐓, who reflected on the celebration’s theme through the symbol of the bamboo as an image of resilience. He explained that true strength lies not in rigidity but in the ability to bend, endure, and rise again amid life’s challenges. 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀, 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

The program concluded with the closing remarks of 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒇. 𝑹𝒆𝒏𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒂𝒃𝒂, adviser of the Values Education major, who emphasized that Values Education is not confined to classroom instruction but is reflected in daily actions and lived experiences. The celebration reinforced the College of Education’s dedication to holistic formation—developing individuals who are academically competent, morally grounded, spiritually strengthened, and committed to building an inclusive community and a truly positibong kinabukasan.

GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS

1. The contest is open to all bona fide students of the University of Eastern Philippines – Main Campus.

2. This is an individual competition. Each student may submit only one (1) entry.

3. The competition will be held on January 29, 2026 (Thursday), 1:00 – 2:30 PM at the UEP Centennial Building
Contestants must be at the venue 15 minutes before the contest starts.

4. The registration deadline is on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

5. To register, message (@ Edna Agus Abellano , @ Jarine Saludario De Gabriel and @ Mejos Lyka Openiano ) using this format: Name & Program and Year

6. The theme of the contest is:
“Matatag na Puso at Diwa: Inklusibong Pagpapakatao, Determinadong Bayanihan, Positibong Kinabukasan.”

MECHANICS

7. The poem may be written in Filipino, English, or Taglish.

8. The poem must be original and self-composed. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.

9. The poem should have at least three (3) stanzas with four (4) lines per stanza.
It may be written in free verse or rhymed form.

10. The poem should be written in A4 bondpaper.
Include the title of the poem and the author’s name or pseudonym at the top.

11. Entries must express the core values of the theme resilience, inclusivity, unity, and optimism.

12. Judging Criteria:
Relevance to the Theme – 30%
Creativity and Originality -25%
Language and Style – 20%
Impact and Emotion – 15%
Technical Accuracy (Grammar, Structure) – 10%
Total - 100%
13. Entries must be submitted immediately after the contest to the designated committee.

3. This event will be held on January 29, 2026 (Thursday), 2:00-3:00pm at the UEP Centennial Building

4. To register your group, don’t hesitate to message (𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙝 𝘼. 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙪𝙨 ) using this format: 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 & 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫. The deadline is on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 until 6:00pm.

𝐌𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐒

1. Each group will consist of seven (7) members and form a straight line.

2. To start the game, the first player of each group will get the written message. After that, they must whisper it to the next player in line.

3. The last player of the group will write it down on bond paper.

4. The first group that presents the message correctly and fastest wins.

GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS

1. Open to all bonafide students of the University of Eastern Philippines-Main Campus
2. This is a group competition composed of 5 members. Only one may submit an entry.
3. The competition will be held on January 29, 2026 (Thursday), 2:00-3:00 PM at the UEP CENTENNIAL Building.

✨Each team shall be composed of five (5) members.

Three (3) members will serve as blindfolded walkers, while two (2) members will act as guides.

Blindfolded walkers must navigate the obstacle course relying solely on the verbal instructions of their guides. Guides are not allowed to enter the course or physically assist the blindfolded members.

Guides may only use the approved direction words when giving instructions:

- Forward
- Back
- Left
- Right
- Stop
- Slow

No additional words, sounds, gestures, or signals are allowed.

The activity begins at the facilitator’s signal and ends when all blindfolded members reach the finish line.

‎2. This is an individual competition; each student may only submit one (1) entry.‎

‎3.The competition will be held on January 29, 2026 (Thursday), 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM at the UEP CENTENNIAL BUILDING. Contestants should be at the venue at least 15 minutes before the start.‎

‎4. The registration deadline is on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

‎8. The work must be finished within the allotted 1 hour and 30 minutes.‎
