𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 || 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟑 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐎𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐂𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 — Third and final day of the pre-oral defense of DevCom 4th year students wrapped up today at the UEP-LRC, with the remaining set of researchers successfully defended their papers.

Featuring topics that relevantly discuss social realities and issues while equipping communication principles for the greater good of the marginalized. The panel, on the other hand, gave their queries and clarifications, comments, and suggestions to help the researchers navigate their study efficiently.

Marking the end of their successful 3 days Pre-Oral Defense, the researchers are beyond grateful for the valuable lessons they learned and for the opportunity to show the panel what they have been embarking on during their countless sleepless nights.

𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 — Second day of the pre-oral defense of DevCom 4th year students kicked off today at UEP-LRC, with the second set of researchers courageously presented their studies to the panel.

Likewise, the event was a success for both the researchers and the panel as they shared their insights, recommendations, and comments during the presentations.

Remaining set of DevCom 4th year students are scheduled to present their thesis on the third and final day of the event, tomorrow, December 19.

𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 — Today, marks the first day of the pre-oral defense of DevCom 4th year students at the UEP-LRC, panelled by distinguished college professors of the College of Arts and Communication.

The event successfully started as the researchers presented various ideas and insights focusing on developmental issues and communication principles. At the end of each presentations, the members of the panel shared their comments and encourages the researchers to continue on improving their respective studies.

The next set of DevCom 4th year students are slated to present their study on the second day of the pre-oral defense scheduled tomorrow, December 18.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 : 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓-𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Last October 3, 2025, the 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗔𝘀𝘀), headed by its newly elected officers, conducted its 𝘼𝙣𝙣𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 𝙊𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 at the College of Arts and Communication Social Hall, welcoming students to the Development Communication (DevCom) Program. The orientation aimed to introduce the students to the DevCom journey, highlighting the program’s history, core faculty members, and curriculum.

The event featured key discussions from members of the DevCom faculty. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗚. 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗻 provided a discussion on the 𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 of DevCom at UEP, highlighting how the program has grown into what it is today. Another topic discussed during the event was the 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘮, presented by the Program Chair, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗦. 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼, who outlined the academic journey of DevCom students. Their talks provided valuable knowledge and guidance to help students navigate their path while in DevCom. The program also showcased the talents of DevCom students through intermission performances by Erika Rosasiňa and Mark Daniel Nofies.

Aside from introducing the program, the event also 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘈𝘴𝘴, who took their oath of office to fulfill their duties and responsibilities as student leaders. The oath-taking ceremony was officiated by 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘂 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀, CommAss adviser.

Another highlight of the event was the 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘩-𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 through a short video presentation. This segment, led by 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗡. 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗼, DevCom SIPP coordinator and CommAss adviser emphasized the importance of professionalism and the valuable lessons gained during their internship journey.

The event concluded with an 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦 from the CommAss President, 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗬. 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗮, who encouraged everyone to embrace their DevCom journey with passion and purpose, the true heart of a DevCom student.

The UEP Bachelor of Science in Development Communication extends its warmest congratulations to 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐦, a BS Development Communication student, on the significant success of his film. Here’s how to survive and claim victory:

𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗭𝗘𝗡𝗦: Work together to identify and vote out all the Mafias before it’s too late. 🎭

𝗠𝗔𝗙𝗜𝗔𝗦: Protect your identities, and secretly agree on a Citizen to eliminate each night. ☯️

Don’t Forget: WEAR THE OFFICIAL "NIGHT HAS COME" OUTFIT to blend in and avoid suspicion. 🕵️‍♀️

The award-winning paper "𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙡𝙮𝙤! 𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙡𝙮𝙤!: 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙡𝙮𝙤 𝙎𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢 𝙖𝙨 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙧" shows intellectual prowess while embracing a community-driven approach to communication research.

Your DevCom Family is extremely proud and loud on your excellent performance, Ma'am Malou. Your achievement serves as an encouragement to all student researchers, reminding us to dedicate our scientific endeavors to help our vulnerable communities. Indeed, as proactive individuals in the field we can do great things. This feat speaks both honor and pride, not just to the university but to the Eastern Visayas region as a whole.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌 | 𝐁𝐒 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐂𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧

Yesterday, September 30, 2024, the 𝗕𝗦 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗖𝗼𝗺), through the efforts of the 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗔𝘀𝘀) 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀, successfully commenced a 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻 for Freshmen held at the Audio Visual Room of UEP Center for Samar Studies Building, University of Eastern Philippines.

The event primarily aimed to acquaint the students of the program’s mandates, significance to society, and other relevant information relative to the students' academic endeavors. As the program formally started, Ms. Kenchen Y. Dela Tonga, vice president of ComAss, shared the Rationale of the Activity.

Dr. Kristine Mae B. Destura, associate professor and CommAss adviser, delivered the Historical Perspective of BS DevCom. Likewise, Dr. Salvie S. Magtanao, DevCom's program chair, presented the UEP DevCom Curriculum in order to guide and orient the freshmen on the program's admission and retention policy. Alongside this, Prof. Brenfred N. Romero, director for admission and CommAss adviser, formally introduced the program's core and affiliate faculty members.

To break the monotony of the program, the Senior BS DevCom students, namely Erica Rosaniña and Mark Daniel Nofies entertained the attendees through a song number.

Meanwhile, Dr. Perlita B. Loverita, dean of College of Arts and Communication, shared an invaluable message where she encouraged the students to be more academically competitive and to collaborate on the efforts of the program's mandate in achieving quality education.

Moreover, Prof. Romero also shared an Overview of the Internship Program and eventually introduced the host training establishments' group leaders to share their significant experiences during the internship.

Lastly, Justine Sean D. Deniega, CommAss president, expressed her deep gratitude and formally closed the momentous event.

The half-day program was also graced by one of the assistant professors of BS DevCom and Station Manager of Huni 102.9 DYNS FM, Ms. Juniver P. Delorino.
