Bote IS Red Cross Youth and BCCD first aid- trained officers actively participated during the First Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill held at Bote IS today, March 12, 2026. They served as the school first responders and also acted as victims during the simulation activity of disaster response spearheaded by the MDRRMO Bato.

Emergencies don’t knock before they happen. In a matter of seconds, a normal day can turn into a critical situation. But while we can’t always prevent accidents, we can prepare for them.

The most important thing to remember? Don’t panic.

✔️ Check the scene first. Make sure it’s safe for you and the victim.
✔️ Assess responsiveness. Gently tap and ask, “Are you okay?”
✔️ Control bleeding by applying firm pressure with a clean cloth or bandage.
✔️ Ensure airway and breathing. Clear the airway and check if the person is breathing normally.
✔️ Call emergency services immediately. Professional help is crucial.

Keeping a well-stocked first aid kit at home, at work, and in your vehicle is a simple step that can make a life-saving difference. Knowledge, preparedness, and quick thinking can transform an ordinary person into someone’s lifesaver.

In critical moments, every second counts. Your calm mind, steady hands, and willingness to act can protect a life, support a family, and strengthen a community. ❤️

Stay Cool, Beat the Heat. ☀️

The Philippine Red Cross Quezon City reminds everyone that heat stroke is serious — but it’s preventable with the right precautions. As temperatures rise, make hydration a priority. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak hours. Wear light, loose-fitting clothing, use hats or umbrellas for protection, and take regular breaks in shaded or well-ventilated areas. If possible, stay in air-conditioned spaces and eat light meals to help your body stay cool.

Be alert for signs of heat exhaustion such as dizziness, headache, or extreme fatigue — and don’t ignore them. Most importantly, check on children, senior citizens, and other vulnerable individuals.

Stay informed. Stay prepared. ❤️
