We often ask where our taxes go.
But for this series, we’ll ask a different question. Where should they go?
Join us as we examine one of the country’s largest flood control initiatives, the Pasig–Marikina River Channel Improvement Project, and explore how engineering, planning, and public accountability come together to protect millions of Filipinos.
The conversation doesn’t end here. Continue it with us at the National Civil Engineering Symposium 2026, where we’ll dive deeper into the future of flood resilience and ethical, accountable infrastructure development.

Over the past few weeks, relentless rains have battered parts of Quezon City, leaving several communities underwater. Among the hardest hit is 𝗕𝗿𝗴𝘆. 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻, where many families have been displaced from their homes.

That's why 𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗨𝗣, in coordination with the 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻, is heading to the barangay 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, August 19, 2026, to reach out to the residents. We're planning to serve 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 and distribute 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 to families who need it most.

Whether you can join us on the ground as a 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 or contribute a 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, no matter how small, every bit of help brings comfort and relief to our kababayan in Bagong Silangan. Together, we can make sure that no one is left behind.

𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽? Send us a message for donation and volunteer details, and let's extend a hand to those who need it most.

When the rains don't stop, neither do we.

ENGAGE UP is rallying to support our neighbors in Diliman, Quezon City, by providing 100 servings of warm soup to residents affected by the flooding.

It may seem small against a disaster this size, but to a cold, tired family who has lost so much, a warm meal is comfort, dignity, and a reminder that they are not alone.

Donation details on our posters.

The people know where the cracks are.
For SympoulCE Episode 2, we asked the people across communities to look closer at the infrastructure challenges they experience every day, and the changes they hope to see.
From roads and transportation to flooding, housing, and public facilities, these challenges are more than engineering problems. They are realities that shape how people live, work, and move.
Their answers remind us that meaningful engineering begins by understanding the people it serves.
Join us at the National Civil Engineering Symposium 2026, where we bring these perspectives into conversations on the issues that matter and the future we must build together.

Behind every switch we flip is a story most of us never see.
For Episode 2 of This Is Where Your Taxes Go, we traveled to Gapan City, Nueva Ecija to explore the MTerra Solar Project, one of the world's largest renewable energy developments. Through this landmark project, we examined the factors that influence the electricity bills paid by millions of People. A project this massive promises a cleaner and sustainable energy future—but what does that mean for the average Filipino?
Continue the discussion with us at the National Civil Engineering Symposium 2026, where we'll dive deeper into the future of energy security, sustainability, and the infrastructure driving the nation's progress.

In memory of Dr. Kent Carpenter, a world-renowned marine biologist whose work identified the Philippines as the global center of marine biodiversity and inspired a generation of Filipino scientists.

Your impact was as far-reaching as the restless waves of the sea. 🌊

May your soul find eternal peace in the ocean you dedicated your life to protecting. 🐚

𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨, 𝙎𝙞𝙨 𝘼𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙡 𝘼𝙣𝙣𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣! 🎓💚

ENGAGE UP proudly celebrates one of our own, who received her 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 last week. Her thesis on modified kapok fiber for adsorbing Cobalt-60 in wastewater reflects her commitment to developing practical solutions for cleaner and safer water.

Beyond the classroom, her heart shines just as brightly. When Supertyphoon Uwan and Typhoon Tino struck last year, she was instrumental in launching Kalingang Isko't Iska, bringing relief to communities when it mattered most — a true Iskolar ng Bayan in every sense.

Sis April Anne, thank you for showing us that genuine change begins with genuine compassion. Your ENGAGE UP family cheers you on toward every dream ahead. 🌏✨

As the world marks World Environment Day, the Philippines stands at the edge of something historic and dangerous. PAGASA has raised the El Niño alert, with a 92% probability of a moderate-to-strong El Niño through early 2027. Scientists warn it could be the strongest in 140 years.

Longer droughts. Failed harvests. Stronger typhoons. Depleted water supplies. We have been here before, but never quite like this.

We contribute less than 0.4% of global carbon emissions, yet we are among the first to face what unchecked emissions have made worse. That is not weather. That is injustice.

This World Environment Day, awareness is not enough. We need accountability, preparation, and action — now, before the season turns.

Act for people. Act for planet. Act with urgency.

Happy Earth Day, Earthlings! 🌏🌱

The best way to show our love to the Earth is to let the people know her current situation. ENGAGE UP continues to discuss with the UPD community the situation of our planet. We particularly brought the stories of our partner communities from the landfill of Rodriguez, Rizal.

As we continue to lend a hand to our waste pickers, may you be one of us, donate, and volunteer.

[DISCUSSION | Earth Day 2026]

Tomorrow, April 22, will be the only day we spend to commemorate our planet. We are already past the tipping point of global warming, yet we see no urgent actions to address the climate crisis at a global scale.

Even now, the US-Israel-Iran conflict rages on in the Middle East, resulting in tonnes of carbon emissions, while extreme calamities continue to batter us down here in the Philippines.

In spite this, we must not let ourselves be discouraged from taking action, and continue to fight for our future.

Join us in discussing what we can do to help save our only home, at the UP Sunken Garden at 6 PM. Message our page for more info!
