Casiguran NHS Holds Quarterly SGC Meeting, Tackles Programs, Projects, and School Plans
Casiguran National High School convened its Quarterly School Governance Council (SGC) Meeting last September 25, 2025, at the School Food and Beverage Operation Laboratory, bringing together school leaders, stakeholders, and members of the council to evaluate and strengthen the implementation of programs and projects in the institution.
The meeting was attended by School Principal Dr. Edgar E. Buenaventura, PhD, Designated Co-Chairperson Dr. Yolanda M. Gata, PhD, Elected Co-Chairperson Ms. Angelica T. Mora, SGC Secretary Mrs. Regine T. Orgas, as well as members of the voting and non-voting committees. The session was jointly facilitated by Designated Co-Chairperson Dr. Gata and SGC Secretary Mrs. Orgas.
A key focus of the agenda was the evaluation of the school’s programs and projects. Subject coordinators presented progress updates and reports from their respective departments, highlighting both achievements and areas that need further improvement. This provided a comprehensive view of how each academic and co-curricular unit contributes to the school’s overall mission and vision.
Key presentations included the report of School Administrative Officer Mr. Samuel Salas, who presented the School Annual Implementation Plan (AIP)—a document mandated by the Department of Education that serves as the school’s roadmap for priority programs, projects, and activities within a fiscal year. His presentation underscored the importance of aligning school initiatives with the broader goals of DepEd.
Adding to the discussion, Dr. Elizabeth C. Lota, PhD, Master Teacher I of TVE/TLE, delivered an update on the progress of Casiguran NHS’s application for TESDA Assessment Center accreditation. This development, once realized, will be highly beneficial to Senior High School Tech-Voc students of Casiguran and Dilasag, as it will allow them to undergo their NC II assessment within their own area. In the past, students had to travel to Central Aurora to access accredited assessment centers, which often meant additional expenses and time. With the future establishment of a TESDA Assessment Center at Casiguran National High School, learners will have more convenient and accessible opportunities to gain certification—equipping them with the skills and credentials needed for employment and entrepreneurship.
The quarterly meeting reaffirmed the SGC’s role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and participatory governance in education. By engaging both school leaders and community stakeholders, Casiguran NHS continues to foster a culture of collaboration that drives the improvement of its services for learners.
As the session concluded, the council emphasized its commitment to sustaining quality education through responsive programs and partnerships, setting a firm direction for the coming months.
