𝗦𝗟𝗖-𝗦𝗙𝗟𝗨, 𝗣𝗜𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟭 𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗢𝗨 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆

In a historic first for both institutions, Saint Louis College (SLC) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 1 officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today at the SLC Conference Room. This landmark collaboration makes SLC the first-ever academic partner of PIA Region 1 on a joint commitment to institutional capacity building with a core focus on strategic communication and media and information literacy.

The mutually beneficial partnership outlines several key initiatives aimed at institutional growth and youth empowerment. Under the agreement, PIA Region 1 will provide elite training and technical expertise to equip SLC’s communication personnel in refining the school's institutional communication frameworks.

Furthermore, both organizations will launch proactive Media and Information Literacy (MIL) programs designed specifically for Louisian students. These student-centered initiatives aim to equip the youth with critical thinking skills, champion responsible digital citizenship, and actively combat the spread of misinformation. In return, SLC will open its communication platforms and facilities to support PIA's national public service campaigns, providing the agency with a direct academic platform to engage and educate the community.

The historic signing was witnessed by the top officials of both organizations. The PIA Region 1 delegation was led by Regional Director Ms. Jennylyne C. Role and Assistant Regional Director Ms. April M. Bravo.

Representing Saint Louis College was the top Management Council, headed by College President Rev. Fr. Roderick G. Villamar, CICM, PhD. They were joined by Global Affairs Office Director Dr. Leo Esteene L. Galap, CIMO Head Ms. Viviene Aisha Gugol-Baker, Marketing Supervisor Mr. Monte Carlo B. Zuniega, and Media Assistant Ms. Beatrize V. Marquez, alongside institutional representatives Ms. Zenaida M. Miranda, The Louisian Torch School Paper Adviser, and Mr. John Ken Francisco, Head of the Religious Education Department in the Basic Education Schools.

Spearheaded by CIMO and facilitated through the Global Affairs Office, this initiative aligns with SLC's core mission as a Catholic educational institution. By building a robust communication framework, the partnership ensures that the Louisian community remains at the forefront of promoting truth, critical thinking, and impactful service to form intellectually and morally upright individuals.

This program aims to encourage student engagement in the internationalization initiatives of the institution. This program also serves as an opportunity to empower the students by exposing them to the international academic and professional communities through participation in trainings, conferences, seminars, mobility programs, and networking activities across Asia.

The LISAs will be enjoying the following benefits:
• Subsidized participation in an internationalization activity abroad, (registration fee, accommodation, land transportation, and airfare).
• Exclusive invitation to participate in institutional internationalization activities.
• Feature in official publications and marketing collaterals of GAO.
• Designation as a Lead Student Advocate for Internationalization of during networking and partnership activities.

• Willing and physically fit to participate in trainings, conferences, and international mobility programs
• Must be a holder of a valid Philippine passport
