On October 29, 2025, the Guidance Counseling Services of JHCSC-Dumingag Campus celebrated the Indigenous Peoples’ event with the theme, “Indigenous Voices: Promoting Cultural Awareness and Inclusion Through Education.” The lecture was delivered by Dr. Meljovin F. Dela Cruz, School Principal IV of Dumingag Central School.

He highlighted the importance of creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported. He also encouraged everyone to speak up and use education as an instrument for growth and innovation. In his speech, he continually inspired our fellow IPs to be proud of who they are and to promote the culture of the true Subanen people.

This initiative was led by Ma’am Wella Rose D. Dico, Guidance Counselor of JHCSC-Dumingag, and was supported by Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, JHCSC President; Dr. Moises Glenn G. Tangalin, Campus Director; the Student Peer Facilitators, faculty members, and students of the institution.

The Guidance and Counseling Office (GCO) conducted a Mental Health Awareness Seminar for JHCSC-Dumingag student leaders with the theme “Mental Health Matters: Strengthening Support in Humanitarian Emergencies” on October 29, 2025. The activity aimed to empower student leaders to foster openness, resilience, and compassion as they navigate mental health challenges within their communities.

The guest speaker, Ms. Chique Cherry C. Lumbay, RGC, shared meaningful insights on managing anxiety, maintaining emotional well-being, and staying proactive and productive as leaders. Her talk inspired our student leaders to advocate for a supportive and mentally healthy campus environment.

In support for the World Su***de Prevention Month and Mental Health Awareness Month, the Guidance and Counseling Services Office of J.H. Cerilles State College – Dumingag Campus conducted a Gatekeepers’ Training titled “RACE Against Su***de” last October 24, 2025, at the JHCSC Dumingag Campus Function Hall.

The seminar aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of the faculty and school personnel in responding and supporting individuals at risk of su***de.

The training featured Ms. Tesally V. Saquin, RGC, Guidance Counselor III and Mr. Jeremiah Bagalanon, RPm, Guidance Services Associate I from MSU-IIT, Iligan City, who shared valuable insights on su***de awareness, intervention, and support strategies.

The Guidance and Counseling Office (GCO) conducted an orientation for the BSA First-Year students with the theme “Navigating the Transition: Pathway to Well-Being and Achievement.” The event was held at the JHCSC-Dapiwak Campus on October 23, 2025. It aimed to help freshmen smoothly adjust to college life by promoting mental wellness, academic preparedness, and personal growth.

The guest speaker, Sir Eric Lauron, shared meaningful insights about student life, perseverance, and academic excellence. His inspiring talk encouraged the students to stay motivated, embrace challenges, and maintain a positive outlook toward success.

A special thanks to JHCSC President, Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, and Campus Director, Dr. Moises Glenn G. Tangalin, who both delivered inspiring messages, encouraged the students to study well, and shared words of wisdom that truly uplifted and motivated everyone. Their presence and guidance served as a reminder of the institution’s commitment to student growth and well-being.

Through this event, the freshmen were inspired to strive for growth, guided with motivation and confidence as they began their college journey.

The Guidance and Counseling Office (GCO) conducted an orientation for freshmen BSCrim and BSISM students with the theme “Navigating the Transition: Pathway to Well-Being and Achievement.” The event was held at the JHCSC-Dumingag Campus AVR on October 7, 2025. This orientation aimed to help freshmen smoothly adjust to college life by promoting mental wellness, academic preparedness, and personal growth.

The guest speaker, Mr. Dirb Boy O. Sebrero, shared valuable insights about what to expect in the coming years and provided practical tips for academic success and emotional resilience.

Through this event, the freshmen were encouraged to embrace challenges with confidence and were equipped with the guidance and motivation needed to thrive in their college journey.

JHCSC Dumingag Campus GCO Organizes Training-Workshop for SPFs 💚

The Guidance and Counseling Office of JHCSC Dumingag Campus spearheaded a Training-Workshop for Student Peer Facilitators (SPFs) on October 10, 2025, at JHCSC Dumingag Campus Function Hall, Caridad, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.

The workshop featured two distinguished resource speakers from Misamis University (MU): Ms. Mary Divimer L. Pangilinan, and Mr. Jack Heaven A. Namocatcat, who willingly shared their expertise on self-awareness, empathy, and effective peer engagement. Following the discussions, SPFs were subsequently given the chance to apply their learning into practice.

Through these interactive discussions and engaging activities, both neophyte and senior SPFs gained practical insights and strategies to help them become more effective and empathetic facilitators.

Ultimately, the success of this event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of JHCSC President, Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales; Dumingag Campus Director, Dr. Moises Glenn G. Tangalin; JHCSC Dumingag Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Wella Rose D. Dico, RGC; Guidance and Counseling Office Staff, Ms. Myrel Shane C. Abayon and Ms. Rica O. Buchan; SPF President, Ms. Michaelah M. Hangad; alongside the SPFs who helped in preparing the venue of the workshop.

The activity “Navigating the Transition: Pathways to Well-being and Achievement” (DAY 1) was held on October 3, 2025, at the J.H. Cerilles State College – Dumingag Campus Function Hall.

It aimed to support first-year School of Computing Studies and School of Teacher Education students in their transition from high school to college. Through the insightful discussions of Mr. Eric G. Lauron, MS, and Dr. Marjorey C. Cabigas, students gained valuable perspectives on personal growth, building resilience, and achieving academic success.

The activity empowered students to embrace new challenges, enhance their well-being, and develop a positive mindset toward their college journey.
