Candelaria Delegates Prioritize Safety, Join 3rd Quarter NSED 2026 Amid Palarong Quezon Campaign
GUMACA, QUEZON β Displaying their commitment to disaster resilience alongside sporting excellence, student-athletes, coaches, and technical working group (TWG) members from the Candelaria delegation actively participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today, September 10, 2026.
Despite their tight schedules and ongoing preparation for the Palarong Quezon 2026 events, the delegates temporarily paused their activities to heed the call for disaster preparedness at their billeting quarter in Gumaca West.
Precisely at 2:00 PM, upon the prompt activation of the Early Warning System in strict adherence to the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DRRMS) Advisory dated September 9, 2026, Candelaria delegates immediately executed the life-saving protocol: Duck, Cover, and Hold.
Following the alarm, technical personnel, coaches, and student-athletes safely evacuated their quarters and assembled at the designated open spaces located on the left side, right side, and center of the Gumaca West building facade.
Safety knows no competition. Winning medals is our goal in Palarong Quezon, but preserving life through preparedness is always our top priority,
The successful participation of the Candelaria team highlights the seamless coordination between local organizers, school heads, and athletic delegations in integrating disaster risk reduction practices into major provincial gatherings.
