November 30, 2023. In a bid to unravel the intricacies of Ethnographic Research, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) hosts a groundbreaking workshop titled "Into the Insiderโ€™s Perspective: A Walk Through on the Process of Ethnographic Research" today at the TAU Bamboo Training Center.

The program kicked off with opening remarks by Dr. Ma. Flora G. Mariano, the esteemed Dean of the College. Following this, the Department of Research and Development, represented by Dr. Maria Elena T. Caguioa, will conveyed her encouraging message to the participants.

Moreover, Ms. Leslie C. Lopez, CAS Research Coordinator, provided an overview of the workshop. Mr. April Christian L. De Leon, a key member of the CAS IP Research Program, introduced the resource speaker, Dr. Tala Aurora S. Ramos from the University of the Philippines-Baguio.

Dr. Ramos now delivers lectures on the application of Ethnographic Research in the context of the IP Research Program. She will then delve into the ethical considerations and standards vital in conducting such research, shedding light on the intricate aspects of ethnographic researches.

The program will culminate in a hands-on workshop led by Dr. Ramos, guiding participants on how to seamlessly incorporate ethnographic research methods into their working proposals for the program.

This program promises to be a stepping stone for researchers keen on navigating the depths of ethnographic research, offering a rare opportunity to gain insights directly from a seasoned expert in the field. (n.mallari)

For the second time, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) entered the World University Rankings (WUR) by Times Higher Education (THE) as a reporter. TAU shared this recognition with 8 other Philippine higher education institutions (PHEIs) who also did not make the cut (Top 1,904 HEIs) but were duly acknowledged for participating in the merit evaluation system.

As per the information on THE website, universities labeled as 'reporter' status provided data for appraisal but did not meet the stringent eligibility requirements for the global ranking especially on providing required number of research, an undertaking that necessitates a long-term strategic financial investment.

THE WUR is different from THE Impact Rankings which placed TAU in tier 601-800, globally. The latter assesses HEI performance based on sustainability indicators tied with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Tarlac Agricultural University - Department of Research and Development (TAU-DRD) is making strides in advancement with the acquisition of the ICT Grant from the Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC). This development took place during the university's 34th In-House Review held on August 3, 2023.

During the event, a significant moment was the Turn Over Ceremony, where state-of-the-art ICT equipment was introduced into the TAUs ecosystem. Leading the delegation was Dr. Armando Espino Jr., OIC Director of CLAARRDEC, along with CLAARRDEC Staff, who presented the ICT grant to TAU.
The distinguished heads of the university that received this transformative endowment with honor include Dr. Maria Elena T. Caguioa, Director of DRD; Dr. Yolanda S. Guillermo, OIC VPRET; and Dr. Eugene S. Valeriano, MIS Chief.

This significant milestone marked an infusion of cutting-edge technology into TAUs research efforts, including the line of Apple iMac and MacBook Air computers that will empower their ongoing projects. These cutting-edge devices have the potential to enhance the university's focus on innovation and excellence, driving TAU forward in its journey of research and extension (/n.mallari)

The University's R&D held the In-house Review of Completed and On-going Research and Development Projects on August 3-4, 2023.

This year, Tarlac Agricultural University's Research and Development Department (TAU-DRD) conducted the 34th In-House Review at the Farmer's Training Center. Twenty-two (22) researches from competing and non-competing research categories were presented during the event.

For the Development and Research Categories, manuscripts were presented to Dr. Armando N. Espino Jr., Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz, and Dr. Joice V. San Andres from the reputable office of the Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic, and Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC). Dr. Irene G. Bustos (CLAARRDEC) and the University's former Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs, Dr. Eleanor Hilario and Dr. Ma. Teresa SJ. Valdez served as evaluators for the social/education category.

As one of TAU's pillars, the University routinely undertakes a range of research initiatives with the aim of enhancing the quality of life through the development of pertinent technologies for societal benefit. This is carried out in an effort to increase knowledge, create cutting-edge technology, and support sustainable community activities.

The In-House Review also provides a forum for acknowledging the contributions made by the University's scientists and researchers to advance the research vitality of the institution. (n.mallari)

Tarlac Agricultural University's Department of Research and Development (TAU-DRD) hosted a groundbreaking seminar, "Advancing the Science and Practice of Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resources," on June 30, 2023.

The event aimed to introduce faculty members to transformative agricultural technologies and their potential applications in various fields.

Attended by 72 faculty members, including 40 males and 32 females, the seminar served as a platform for participants to gain familiarity with the latest technologies, understand their fundamental principles, explore data requirements and equipment setup, and discuss potential research projects.

Additionally, faculty members were encouraged to incorporate these cutting-edge concepts and learnings into their instructional materials and research activities.

Renowned expert Prof. Guillermo A. Mendoza, a DOST Balik Scientist Awardee and faculty, delivered enlightening talks on precision agriculture, remote sensing utilizing vegetation indices, and integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning in agriculture and forestry.

The seminar commenced with warm words of welcome from Dr. Ma. Asuncion G. Beltran, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training. Dr. Maria Elena T. Caguioa, Director of DRD, provided a comprehensive overview of the seminar's objectives, ensuring participants understood the event's significance.

To facilitate a deeper understanding of the topics discussed, Prof. Mendoza engaged in interactive conversations with the participants before the event concluded.

The event occurred at the Farmer's Training Center within the university premises from 8 AM to 12 NN, symbolizing the institution's commitment to fostering knowledge and innovation in agriculture. (n.mallari)
