November 30, 2023. In a bid to unravel the intricacies of Ethnographic Research, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) hosts a groundbreaking workshop titled "Into the Insiderโs Perspective: A Walk Through on the Process of Ethnographic Research" today at the TAU Bamboo Training Center.
The program kicked off with opening remarks by Dr. Ma. Flora G. Mariano, the esteemed Dean of the College. Following this, the Department of Research and Development, represented by Dr. Maria Elena T. Caguioa, will conveyed her encouraging message to the participants.
Moreover, Ms. Leslie C. Lopez, CAS Research Coordinator, provided an overview of the workshop. Mr. April Christian L. De Leon, a key member of the CAS IP Research Program, introduced the resource speaker, Dr. Tala Aurora S. Ramos from the University of the Philippines-Baguio.
Dr. Ramos now delivers lectures on the application of Ethnographic Research in the context of the IP Research Program. She will then delve into the ethical considerations and standards vital in conducting such research, shedding light on the intricate aspects of ethnographic researches.
The program will culminate in a hands-on workshop led by Dr. Ramos, guiding participants on how to seamlessly incorporate ethnographic research methods into their working proposals for the program.
This program promises to be a stepping stone for researchers keen on navigating the depths of ethnographic research, offering a rare opportunity to gain insights directly from a seasoned expert in the field. (n.mallari)

For the second time, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) entered the World University Rankings (WUR) by Times Higher Education (THE) as a reporter. TAU shared this recognition with 8 other Philippine higher education institutions (PHEIs) who also did not make the cut (Top 1,904 HEIs) but were duly acknowledged for participating in the merit evaluation system.
As per the information on THE website, universities labeled as 'reporter' status provided data for appraisal but did not meet the stringent eligibility requirements for the global ranking especially on providing required number of research, an undertaking that necessitates a long-term strategic financial investment.
THE WUR is different from THE Impact Rankings which placed TAU in tier 601-800, globally. The latter assesses HEI performance based on sustainability indicators tied with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
