Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) has made a historic leap in the 2026 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), climbing from 93rd to 64th place worldwide, a stunning 29-rank surge in just one year. The University now stands as the 9th most innovative higher education institution (HEI) in the Philippines and also claims the top spot in Central Luzon.

TAU, which first entered the WURI rankings in 2021, has sustained a meteoric rise over five consecutive years, reflecting its aggressive push toward industry-linked innovation, entrepreneurial education, and community-driven problem-solving, among others. University officials attribute the breakthrough to strengthened partnerships with local and international networks, emphasizing that the new ranking affirms TAU’s role beyond agriculture, into a broader innovation ecosystem that prioritizes real-world impact over traditional metrics.

This achievement is made possible through the visionary leadership of Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson and the collective dedication of the entire TAU community. Tarlac Agricultural University extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to all faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners whose unwavering commitment, hard work, and support continue to drive the University toward greater excellence and global recognition.

The initiative focused on the improvement and preservation of key local attractions, namely 𝙇𝙪𝙗𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙋𝙞𝙘𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙨, 𝙈𝙩. 𝙉𝙜𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙋𝙞𝙘𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙨, and 𝙎𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤 𝘽𝙖𝙖𝙜 𝙑𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙠, where participants carried out waste collection, sweeping, clearing operations, and beautification efforts to maintain the cleanliness and appeal of these public destinations.

The meaningful activity was held under the guidance and supervision of faculty members 𝙈𝙨. 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙪 𝙅𝙖𝙣𝙚 𝙄. 𝙂𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖 and 𝙈𝙭. 𝙉𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙀𝙡𝙮𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝙋. 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙯, whose support and leadership inspired the students to actively participate in promoting environmental awareness and civic responsibility. Their presence ensured the successful and organized implementation of the outreach program.

In collaboration with the LGU SAN JOSE - Municipal Tourism Office, Tarlac, headed by 𝙈𝙧. 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙁. 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙤, the partnership highlighted the importance of united efforts between academic institutions and local government agencies in protecting natural resources while promoting eco-tourism in the municipality.

The event was actively participated in by 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙-𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (𝘽𝙀𝙀𝙙) students and 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩-𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (𝘽𝙏𝙇𝙀𝘿) 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨, who wholeheartedly contributed their time, energy, and teamwork throughout the clean-up drive. Their enthusiasm and cooperation reflected the youth’s commitment to creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable community.

Through this successful environmental endeavor, the ESWM Officers once again demonstrated that collective action and volunteerism can make a significant impact. The “𝘾𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤 𝘽𝙖𝙖𝙜” program not only enhanced the beauty of San Jose’s tourist spots but also strengthened awareness of proper waste management, environmental stewardship, and shared responsibility in preserving nature for future generations.

Demonstrating its strong commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), College of Education (CEd) conducts the “Clean and Green Sitio Baag: Community Clean-Up Drive and Beautification Program” on April 10, 2026, in San Jose, Tarlac. In partnership with the Municipal Tourism Office, led by Mr. Christian F. Lantano, the activity mobilizes students and faculty in promoting ecological awareness and shared responsibility in preserving local tourist sites.

Second-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) students, first-year Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) students, and Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) officers actively participate in cleaning and restoring key areas such as Lubigan Picnic Grounds, Mt. Ngile Picnic Grounds, and Sitio Baag View Deck. The initiative is reinforced through the installation of environmental awareness signages and the provision of waste bins, encouraging sustainable practices among community members under the guidance of faculty members Ms. Angelu Jane I. Galicia and Mx. Norman Elynmer P. Cortez.

Anchored on TAU’s extension mandate, the activity goes beyond a one-day clean-up drive by instilling environmental responsibility and civic consciousness among future educators. Through initiatives like this, TAU continues to empower its students as agents of change transforming knowledge into action and strengthening partnerships toward building cleaner, greener, and more sustainable communities.

As part of its continuing commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, the College of Education (CEd) conducts an extension activity titled “Barangay Greening Initiative: Community Tree-Planting for Environmental Protection and Climate Resilience” on 27 March. The initiative is carried out in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lawacamulag, San Jose, Tarlac, and the Ecological Solid and Waste Management (ESWM).

Under the course Building Eco-Literacy in the 21st Century, instructors from CEd namely Ms. Angelu Jane I. Galicia and Mx. Norman Elynmer P. Cortez led the activity that brings together students and barangay representatives in a shared effort to strengthen environmental awareness and responsibility.

Prior to the tree-planting activity, participants attend a seminar on proper planting techniques and seedling care facilitated by Mr. Romer P. Salvidar, RPF. The activity engages first-year Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) students, second-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSE) major in Science students, and ESWM officers. Following the orientation, participants proceed to plant tree seedlings in designated areas within the barangay.

To support the long-term success of the initiative, the group also develops an aftercare plan to monitor and sustain the growth of the planted trees. This collaborative effort emphasizes not only immediate environmental action but also a sustained sense of responsibility toward the community’s ecological well-being.

Through this initiative, CEd continues to foster eco-literate individuals who are not only informed but also actively engaged in advancing sustainable practices within their communities.

Last March 27, 2026, the 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗘𝗦𝗪𝗠) 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 successfully conducted a meaningful 𝙏𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 at 𝙱𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚗𝚐𝚊𝚢 𝙻𝚊𝚠𝚊𝚌𝚊𝚖𝚞𝚕𝚊𝚐, 𝚂𝚊𝚗 𝙹𝚘𝚜𝚎, 𝚃𝚊𝚛𝚕𝚊𝚌 anchored on the theme: “𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚: 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙏𝙧𝙚𝙚-𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙀𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚.”

Driven by an initiative rooted in environmental stewardship and community collaboration, the program formally commenced with inspiring and heartfelt opening remarks from 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 𝘾𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙅𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙋. 𝙁𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙯, who warmly expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the participating students, dedicated advisers, and ESWM officers for their commitment to environmental protection and community service. His message emphasized the importance of collective action in building a greener and more sustainable future.

Tree planting is more than just an activity—it is a vital step toward environmental preservation. It crucial for different environmental issues like climate change, improving air quality, preventing soil erosion, and restoring biodiversity.

The 𝗘𝗦𝗪𝗠 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 extends its sincere appreciation to the 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙡 of 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 𝙇𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙜, San Jose, Tarlac, under the leadership of 𝘽𝙧𝙜𝙮. 𝘾𝙖𝙥𝙩. 𝙅𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙋. The program commenced with inspiring opening remarks from 𝙈𝙧. 𝙅𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙇. 𝘽𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖, ESWM Adviser, warmly welcoming the students, eco-literacy advisers, and guest speakers. This was followed by the discussion of plans and concerns for the upcoming tree planting activity, led by 𝙈𝙧𝙨. 𝙈𝙧𝙨. 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙪 𝙅𝙖𝙣𝙚 𝙄. 𝙂𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖, 𝙇𝙋𝙏, 𝙈𝙨. 𝙇𝙚𝙖 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙤, 𝙈𝘼𝙀𝙙 and 𝙈𝙭. 𝙉𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙀𝙡𝙮𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝙋. 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙯, 𝙈𝘼𝙀𝙙, setting a clear direction for impactful environmental action.
