Igniting Curiosity, One Station at a Time!

On September 16, 2026, the San Jose Pili National High School Science Club Officers and members proudly conducted PROJECT LAB, an educational outreach program for the brilliant Grade 5 students of San Jose North Elementary School. As student leaders representing SJPNHS Science Club, we dedicated the day to stepping outside our campus walls to foster a deep love for STEM, discovery and hands‑on scientific exploration within our local community.

The elementary students embarked on a journey through four unique, interactive learning stations designed to spark their imagination. Grade 5 students witnessed the thrilling chemistry behind how volcanoes erupt, zoomed in to view hidden specimens under microscopes and launched water rockets to explore physics in action. To top off the adventure Grade 5 learners stepped inside a tent for an immersive presentation showcasing the beautiful vast objects across our solar system.

This impactful event would not have been a success without the guidance and coordination from the host school. We extend our deepest gratitude to Ma'am Franlie, and Ma’am Jeanette and Ma'am Diane, the dedicated principal and advisers for welcoming us so warmly and helping us inspire their students. Seeing the sparks of wonder in the eyes of Grade 5 students reminds us of the power of shared learning and it proves that the future of innovation is incredibly bright!

Mr. Mark Vincent R. Tapan, a Senior High School student at San Jose Pili National High School, is among the schoo participants who explored artificial intelligence through the AI Ready ASEAN Programme. Even before joining, he had already been using AI for research and school assignments, gradually integrating it into his learning process.

His interest in technology pushed him further to explore how AI can support innovation. In Grade 11, he developed a robotic trash bin that can automatically segregate wet and dry waste—an initiative that encouraged fellow students to dispose of trash properly. With his exposure to AI, he began to see how these tools could extend beyond academics to support practical solutions within the school community.

“Ginagamit ko lang po yung AI for my research… tapos now po, I can use AI for something technological, like robotics po,” he shared. “Ngayon pong Grade 12… mas lalo po akong natuto na mas mai-e-enhance ko po yung skills ko about technology na maaaring maging guide ko po yung AI po.” Through the program, Mark Vincent shared that his understanding of AI deepened, especially in how it can be used alongside critical thinking. He became more confident in developing ideas, seeing AI not just as a source of answers but as a tool that can guide innovation and problem-solving.

“Make AI as your guide, not a replacement,” he added. As students like him engage with initiatives supported by Break The Fake Movement and the Department of Education through Project AGAP.AI, his experience highlights how AI can help young learners build solutions that extend beyond the classroom and into their communities.

Itinanghal na 2nd runner-up sa pandistritong patimpalak sa Festival of Talents: Science and Mathematics STEMazing sina Bb. Zyanah Nuñez ng Grade 11 STEM Serenity at G. Sean Kelly Aguilor ng Grade 10 Archimedes na ginanap nitong ika-23 ng Pebrero sa Rodriguez National High School (RNHS).

Ayon pa kay Bb. Nuñez, kanilang hindi inaasahan na makapasok sa bilang ng mga nanalo dahil sa hindi na pamilyar sakanila ang mga lumabas na katanungan sa STEM race, at dahil na rin sa kanilang kaunting panahon upang makapaghanda sa patimpalak. Ngunit, sa tulong at gabay ng kanilang tagapagsanay, si Bb. Janine Pauline Sierda, kanilang naatim ang hindi inaasahang manalo.

"May mga mahihirap po talagang stations po, but still at the end of the day po, manalo or matalo, as long as we did our very best po, that's enough na po." Ani pa ni Bb. Nuñez.

Hindi man natamo ang pagkakataong umabante sa pandibisyong labanan, masaya ang dalawang kalahok na maranasan at ipagpatuloy ang kanilang paghubog ng kaalaman sa larangan ng agham at matematika.
