The school site is located at the heart of Barangay Gumaus known as “Sitio Guinubacan”. It is 18 kilometers away from the town proper of Paracale. In 1956, Gumaus Elementary School was established, headed by the Barangay Captain, community people, Mining Company officials, Municipal Mayor and DepEd Officer-in-Charge of Paracale-Jose Panganiban District. alajate for a noble purpose. The mining company gave financial assistance for the construction of four classrooms. As the time goes on a lot of change and development happened in this school through the help of former and present administrators. As of now, the Gumaus Elementary School is still a Principal school compose of 17 teachers from Kinder to Grade VI and 1 school head. There are 12 instructional classrooms and 1 computer room. Despite of being one of the barangay schools in Paracale District, the Gumaus Elementary School is still the pinnacle of success because of the achievements that made by the pupils, teachers, administrator and the community. Our instructional and educational structures are equipped with Basic Education and K to 12 Curriculum plus the teachers’ continuous development program through in-service trainings, seminar-workshops, and concerning the availability of instructional materials/ textbooks as potent tools in curriculum development. The school administration is exerted its efforts to combat the problems of textbooks shortages. Our target is to meet the textbook-pupil ratio of 1:1. It is in this light that the school administration initiates supplementary program to increase the available instructional materials requirements. Remedial instructions are conducted as scheduled together with religious instructions and the inclusion of technology in the curriculum enhances the learning teaching processes in science. The procurement of other school instructional materials is through the initiative, resourcefulness and creativity of the teachers. The school administration is eager to enlighten the people on Education Program for Adult (EFA). The school will hold GPTA meeting once a month to discuss and integrate in the agenda about parent responsibility, grading system, values formation and make them aware of the DepEd programs. Moreover, the school head is intending to offer vocational and technical courses with the help of the District ALS Coordinator, LGU’s, NGO’s, GO’s and stakeholders. The school is also intending to conduct livelihood training to benefit and/or improve the living condition of the populace that will surely lessen too much absenteeism of school children and reduce child labor in the community if not totally eliminated. The Gumaus Elementary School has 1 hectare land area. The school administration maintains six (6) school buildings with thirteen (13) classrooms where teachers and pupils holding classes. It has school playground, school office, school clinic, and computer room. The school is in need of additional textbooks in English, Mathematics, MSEP, and EPP. There are also in need of armchairs, tables, desks, Science apparatuses, Home Economics and Industrial Arts equipment, and additional three (3) classrooms and repairs of some depreciated classrooms. Due to the inclination of some pupils to sports and other co-curricular activities, the school also aims to have a basketball court and additional DLC equipment.
