Career planning is the process of setting and achieving career-related goals through careful consideration of one's interests, skills, values, and aspirations. It typically includes activities such as self-assessment, researching potential career paths, setting short-term and long-term goals, acquiring necessary skills and qualifications, networking, and adapting plans based on changing circumstances.
For Junior High School, this age is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, at this age, students are beginning to contemplate their future paths and need guidance on exploring various career options. By providing them with information about different professions, industries, and educational pathways, the seminar can help them make informed decisions about their future. Additionally, it can introduce them to essential skills such as resume writing, interview preparation, and networking, which are valuable regardless of their chosen career path.
For this reason, the Guidance and Evaluation Center has come up with career planning seminar for junior high school students that aims to encourage them to have goals, both short-term and long-term, fosters a sense of purpose and motivation. Ultimately, by arming students with knowledge, skills, and confidence, the seminar empowers them to actively shape their destinies, setting them on a path toward fulfilling and successful futures.

Republic Act No. 11206 otherwise known as the Secondary Career Guidance and Counseling Act of 2019 aims to educate students with career decisions and provide students proper direction in pursuing subsequent tertiary education. This Act is also in lined with the Basic Education Act of 2003 that mandates on properly guiding students in choosing career tracks/course in becoming productive and contributing individuals of the nation.
With this, the Guidance and Evaluation Center proposed a career guidance program to empower students to discover different career ventures and effectively provide them career decision strategies. In particular a seminar entitled “ JOB SEARCH STRATEGIES IN THE NEW NORMAL” will be conducted to Grade 12 students on March 12, 2024; 8:30am-11:00am. This activity focuses on the latest job hunting strategies where power dressing, digital résumé and job interview tips will be discussed.
