My tenure as a pediatric resident is one I will remember and treasure in my lifetime.
There were days which were long, and most of the time, the challenges seem overwhelming.
I even asked myself sometimes why I didn’t choose a simpler path.
But those moments of doubt inevitably passed.
They passed when:
- I made a medical discovery.
- My patients and their relatives understood a complicated concept because I explained it so clearly.
- And, most importantly, when my patient looks into my eyes, relieved and grateful, for the care I have provided.
These sublime moments will come to me again and again;
they will fill me with gratitude;
they will bring me joy;
and they will erase any doubt whatsoever that I’ve chosen the right path.
And now here I am, cherishing this milestone that I could not have achieved without the help of the people so close to my heart:
- MCU FDMT Hospital and its Administration
- MCU Department of Pediatrics, our Chair, training officer, and all my dearest consultants, my mentors
- My In-House Consultants and senior residents who guided me along the way
- The PGIs and interns
- The head nurses, staff nurses, aides, and all medical allied team
- The non-medical staff and friends
- All 101 to 106 plus the guards
- Patients and their relatives who are the best teachers
- All people I have worked with or interacted with in one way or another since I was a clerk up to this day
- You, the one who’s reading this.
- My friends, colleagues, and former co-workers
- And to people I failed to mention here
- Of course, my family
- And above all, to my Maker and King
Thank you so much!
This is not a “Goodbye” but a “See you around” as i enter a new chapter in my life!
Stay safe and be happy always so we can enjoy this GIFT of a LIFETIME!
