Prepared Today for a Safe Tomorrow: Fetalvero Mingoa Memorial School Strengthens Fire Safety Through BFP Fire Drill

Today, July 14, 2026, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted a Fire Safety Orientation and School Fire Drill at Fetalvero Mingoa Memorial School, reaffirming its commitment to promoting fire safety awareness and strengthening the emergency preparedness of learners, teachers, and school personnel. We are truly grateful and honored that our school was chosen as one of the recipients of this meaningful initiative.

The activity began with an informative discussion on the Fire Triangle, which are heat, fuel, and oxygen, helping learners understand how fires start, spread, and can be prevented. BFP personnel also demonstrated the proper use of a fire extinguisher through the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep), equipping participants with essential fire safety skills.

The activity concluded with a school-wide fire drill, where learners and school personnel practiced proper evacuation procedures, reinforcing the importance of preparedness, discipline, teamwork, and quick response during emergencies.

This initiative underscores the value of strong collaboration between the education sector and government agencies in building a safe and disaster-resilient learning environment. Through activities like this, our school community becomes better prepared to respond confidently and responsibly in times of emergency.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the dedicated personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection—FO3 Ronnie Vee F. Maestro, FO1 Junel E. Fajutnao, and FO1 Rhiner D. Solano—for sharing their expertise and commitment to promoting fire safety. We also thank our school administrators, teachers, learners for their active participation in making this activity a success.

Prepared today for a safe tomorrow. Together, we make safety everyone’s responsibility. 🔥🚒🧯

The Fetalvero Mingoa Memorial School family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Pangulo, under the leadership of SK Chairman Jet Lee Falcunit, together with the dedicated Sangguniang Kabataan Councilors, for their generous donation of drums and xylophones to our school.

We likewise express our sincere appreciation to our Barangay Captain JOHN ERWIN PAZ and the Honorable Members of the Barangay Council for their invaluable support and commitment to quality education. 📢 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED)

Strengthening preparedness and fostering a culture of safety, our school successfully carried out the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) in support of the Department of Education’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program.

The activity commenced with a classroom-based orientation, where learners were guided on essential earthquake safety practices and the appropriate actions to take before, during, and after an earthquake. Equipped with this knowledge, learners then actively participated in the actual drill, putting into practice the Duck, Cover, and Hold technique and other emergency response procedures.

More than a routine activity, the earthquake drill serves as a readiness exercise anchored on learning and learner protection. As emphasized by the DepEd DRRM Service, meaningful participation in drills helps cultivate awareness, strengthen response capabilities, and prepare both learners and personnel to act calmly and appropriately during actual emergencies.

By transforming preparedness into practice, we continue to nurture a school community that is safe, resilient, and ready to respond when it matters most.

Prior to the start of the instructional block for School Year 2026–2027, parents and guardians were oriented on the new academic structure and key policies of the Department of Education. To further enhance their understanding, informational brochures were distributed, providing a comprehensive guide on the three-term school calendar, curriculum and grading system, learner conduct, study habits, responsible use of gadgets, child protection policies, and other essential school programs and expectations.

The Parent-Teacher Orientation served as a vital avenue for strengthening school-home partnership. Indeed, well-informed parents are empowered partners in education, enabling them to provide better guidance and support to their children while ensuring that new policies and programs are effectively implemented for the benefit of every learner.

Together, let us continue to foster a culture of shared responsibility, collaboration, and commitment towards nurturing responsible, resilient, and lifelong learners.
