Last 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, the 𝗗𝗪𝗖𝗖 𝗚𝘆𝗺𝗻𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺 was filled with excitement and faith as students competed in the 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇 𝗕𝗲𝗲 The contest highlighted the participants’ knowledge of the Scriptures, showcasing not only their sharp memory and understanding but also their commitment to living out the Word of God.

Guided by the theme, “𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲,” the event inspired everyone present to continue deepening their faith and spreading God’s light in their own ways. Truly, it was a day of wisdom, fellowship, and spiritual growth.

Loving and merciful God, we implore You
to look kindly upon Your servant, Pope Francis,
Touch him with your compassion and consolation.
Restore his health and renew his strength
in mind, body, and spirit.

Surround him with your peace
and the support of the prayers of your holy people.
We place Pope Francis in your healing love
through the doctors, nurses,
and medical professionals who take care of him.

What is a philosopher?

In celebration of 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 and 𝟭𝟱𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 (𝗦𝗩𝗗), we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of our 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇 𝗕𝗲𝗲 and 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 held on 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟯𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱!

A special acknowledgment goes to the 𝟯𝟳 participating groups of the Bible Quiz Bee from both the College Department and Basic Education, as well as the 𝟴 talented participants of the Poster Making Contest, whose creativity brought God’s message to life.

To all who joined, thank you for sharing your knowledge, artistry, and passion. May we continue to carry this mission forward, spreading His love, wisdom, and light wherever we go! 🌟

Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC) is thrilled to join the global celebration of SVD Mission Month this September!

As an integral part of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), DWCC proudly honors the extraordinary work of SVD missionaries. Their dedication illuminates the darkest corners of the world and makes a profound impact through their educational apostolate.

In celebration, the 𝗗𝗪𝗖𝗖 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗖𝗦𝗮𝗺)—which includes Campus Ministry, Community Extension Services, and Religious Education—has organized a series of engaging activities and events. These festivities are crafted to honor the significant contributions of SVD missionaries and to involve DWCC students in meaningful ways.

The Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord became popular in the West in the 11th century, and it was added to the Roman calendar in 1457 to commemorate the triumph against Islam in Belgrade. Previously, the Syrian, Byzantine, and Coptic ceremonies commemorated the Lord's transfiguration. The Transfiguration foreshadows the Lord's glory as God and His ascension into heaven. It anticipates the splendour of paradise, when we will see God face to face. Through grace, we have already received the divine promise of eternal life.

IN OTHER WORDS
In ancient times when emperors or victorious generals went on parade while people acclaimed them, a servant would whisper to their ears: "Remember you are human" or words to that effect. In today's Feast of the Transfiguration, the Word of God reminds us: Jesus who is man is also God. This means that for some moments the divine glory of Jesus the Eternal Son of God was revealed to his chosen disciples. What are the lessons of this feast? First, it reveals the divinity of Jesus Christ, for in becoming man he remained God: two natures in one Person, the Eternal Son of the Father, the second Person of the Blessed Trinity. Secondly, it also reveals to the Apostles that Jesus is the Promised Messiah as attested to by the presence of Moses and Elijah. Thirdly, it is meant to remind the Apostles of who Jesus really is when the Passion and Death of Jesus happens; that with the remembrance of Christ's Transfiguration, they would not lose heart.
What are the lessons for us? First, we need to constantly adore Jesus as God. As we declare in the Gloria: "For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father." Next, we need to enjoy being in the presence of the Lord. Like Peter, we say: Lord, it is good for me to be with you in prayer, in meditation, and in adoration." And lastly, not to lose heart in the face of the trials, temptations, and challenges of life; for we know that Jesus, God and man, will never leave us, and that one day we too will be transfigured into his image in heaven.
