ALTERNATIVE WORK ARRANGEMENTS FOR GOVERNMENT OFFICES, ALTERNATIVE LEARNING MODES FOR SCHOOLS ON AUGUST 19

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 129, government offices are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements in the National Capital Region and the following provinces on August 19, 2026:

Unless otherwise directed by their respective Local Chief Executives, alternative learning modes for classes and learning continuity measures at all levels in public and private schools shall be implemented in the aforementioned areas.

Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.

Pedro V. Panaligan Memorial National High School (PVPMNHS) was recently honored with two amazing awards during the 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐊𝐢𝐜𝐤-𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐜𝐮𝐦 𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 held last August 15, 2026, at Gabaldon Hall, Oriental Mindoro National High School.

We clarify that this news item reflects outdated discussions from 2023 and does not represent current policy. Furthermore, under the revised K to 10 (MATATAG) Curriculum, Makabansa is a distinct, foundational learning area for Key Stage 1 (Grades 1 to 3)—it is NOT a combination or merger of Araling Panlipunan and MAPEH. Rather, it uses a holistic, transdisciplinary approach to foster self-awareness, cultural appreciation, and civic understanding in young learners. Starting in Grade 4, Araling Panlipunan and MAPEH (Music & Arts, PE & Health) continue to be taught as separate and distinct learning areas.

We urge the public to practice critical thinking, check context, and verify release dates before sharing content online.
