๐ŸŽจReviving the Tradition of Paete Laguna: The Art of Paper Mรขchรฉ ๐ŸŽจ

Last March 28, 2025, we proudly hosted a Taka-Making Seminar and Workshop at Lyceum of the Philippines University โ€“ Laguna, in partnership with the CITHM Student Council and The Frontliners. With the support of the Department of Tourism in Paete and the assistance of Mr. Mikiel Cadapan, the event became a meaningful celebration of Paeteโ€™s cultural heritage.

We were honored to learn from Ms. Jillyn Sebello, a 2nd-generation Taka maker, and Ms. Sherrylyn Sebello, a 3rd-generation Taka maker, who shared their skills, stories, and passion for this heritage craft. Through their hands-on guidance, participants gained valuable insights into the intricate process of Taka making, from molding to painting, while also appreciating its cultural significance.

With grateful hearts, we joyfully carried out a tree planting activity last March 26, 2025, in Paete, Laguna, together with the CITHM Student Council. Guided by the kind assistance of Department of Agriculture in Paete, Mr. Marold Manaig and other dedicated volunteers, we planted Molave and Narra treesโ€”two native species known for their strength and longevity, symbolizing our shared commitment to environmental preservation and a more sustainable future.

We are truly thankful for the dedication, teamwork, and positive energy of everyone who participated. Your efforts not only support reforestation and biodiversity but also leave a lasting impact on Paeteโ€™s natural landscape.
