Problems on Basic Algebra
A student in an algebra course has test scores of 75, 82,71 and 84. What score on the test will raise the student’s average to 80?
Let X = is the score in the test to raise the average to 80
Average scores = 75 + 82 + 71 + 84 +X= 80

Solving for X ,
312 + X = 80 X = 5(80) -312 = 88 answer
