Jaime T. Malanyon is an educator, historian, linguist, translator, and columnist. He was born on June 11, 1913, in Calabanga, Camarines Sur. He served as superintendent in four (4) of the six (6) schools division in the Bicol Region including the Division of Camarines Sur. Most of his life has been in the field of education. As a writer, he wrote books in Bikol with English translation. After his retirement, he headed the Archdiocesan Bikol Translation Committee and also became member of the committee who translated the English Bible into Bikol under the Philippine Bible Society. Jaime Malanyaon was conferred the Pro Ecclesiae Et Pontifice Award given by the Holy Pope of the Catholic Church.

Many of his accomplishments including published books are important facets of the Bikol history. His books, for example, Ini an Kabikolan and Tambobong nin mga Piniling Tataramon sa Bikol, impacted Bicol history. Jaime Malanyaon’s years as educator, columnist and historian all contributed to the written and documented memories of Bicol especially his hometown, Calabanga.

*Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice is a decoration of the Holy See. It is currently conferred for distinguished service to the Catholic Church by lay people - Rewarding those who in a general way deserve well of the pope on account of services done for the Church and its head
