Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!

Showcasing a formidable blend of skill and spirit, student-delegates from Northern Mindanao (Region X) proved their mettle on the national stage, securing several podium finishes and special recognitions at the 2026 National Festival of Talents (NFOT).

The week-long festival, hosted in the ā€œSeafood Capital of the Philippines,ā€ was anchored on the theme ā€œEmbracing Change, Redefining Excellence.ā€ Competing against the brightest young minds from 18 regions, the ā€œNorMin Starsā€ earned placements across five major events, bringing home a collection of medals that celebrate the region’s creativity and technical discipline.

The delegation’s versatility was evident in both technical and cultural categories. In Savor D’ Flavor—a high-stakes competition that merges food preservation with foreign language integration—Region X cooked its way to 3rd Runner-Up, impressing the panel with its culinary precision and presentation.

The region also made its mark in academic and cultural preservation. The Qur’an Reading competition clinched 2nd Runner-Up, a victory that underscores the Department of Education’s (DepEd) commitment to the Madrasah Education Program. Meanwhile, the Literary Cup secured 3rd Runner-Up, demonstrating the delegation’s prowess in communication and creative writing.

Northern Mindanao’s commitment to the arts and Special Needs Education (SNED) remained a highlight of its performance. In Stories in Silence, a moving storytelling competition through sign language, the region secured 5th Runner-Up. On the other hand, Likhawitan, an original songwriting and live performance competition, saw Region X finish as 5th Runner-Up.

The group’s technical skill did not go unnoticed, as it was also awarded the minor distinction of ā€œBest in Musicality,ā€ highlighting the technical depth of the region’s young musicians, who balanced original composition with live performance excellence.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara, who opened the festivities at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center, emphasized that the NFOT is more than just a trophy hunt—it is a bridge to the future.

ā€œIn the National Festival of Talents, we not only celebrate artistry but also give equal value to the holistic development of our learners, preparing them for the challenges of the future,ā€ Angara noted.

As the curtains close on the 2026 NFOT, the success of the 4,000 delegates—and particularly the achievements of Region X—stands as a testament to the region’s unwavering dedication to nurturing diverse talents and fostering a lasting culture of excellence.
