HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE TEACHING PROFESSION - As future educators, we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, learning from their experiences to create a more enlightened and equitable future. By understanding the historical journey of education, we recognize our role in a legacy of transformation, where each lesson contributes to a larger story of societal progress. The history of teaching reminds us that our profession is a dynamic and evolving field, where each educator contributes to the ongoing quest for knowledge and betterment of the human experience.

PARENT- TEACHER COMMUNICATION:

Parent-teacher communication is essential for building strong partnerships that support student success.

Effective communication enables parents and teachers to work together toward common goals and align efforts to help students thrive.
When parents and teachers maintain open communication channels, studies show students achieve at higher levels, attend school more regularly, complete more homework, and exhibit more positive attitudes and behavior.

As a future educators, we are deeply inspired by UNESCO's four pillars of education—Learning to Know, Learning to Do, Learning to Be, and Learning to Live Together. These pillars provide a holistic approach that goes beyond traditional academics, fostering comprehensive development in students. Learning to Know equips learners with critical thinking and a love for lifelong learning. Learning to Do emphasizes practical skills for real-world application, ensuring readiness for the workforce. Learning to Be nurtures self-awareness, creativity, and emotional intelligence, essential for personal growth. Finally, Learning to Live Together promotes social skills and intercultural understanding, vital for building inclusive and harmonious communities. By embracing these pillars, we can prepare students not just for careers, but for meaningful, engaged lives in a diverse world.

According to UNESCO's Learning: The Treasure within (1996), education throughout life is based on four pillars: learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together and learning to be. Learning to know, by combining a sufficiently broad genera!
The pillars have specific objectives: to lead people throughout life education to walk the path of self-knowledge, to develop personality in an integral way;

A great teacher has many important qualities. They are smart and can explain things clearly. They care about their students and want them to succeed. They believe in themselves and their abilities. They are creative and try new things to help their students learn. They work well with others and are willing to help. They treat everyone fairly and make sure everyone has a chance to learn. They are positive and upbeat, even when things are tough. They are dependable and always there for their students. And finally, they are emotionally stable and can handle the ups and downs of teaching. They were more than just educators; they were catalysts for growth, shaping young minds and leaving an indelible mark on their students' lives.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD TEACHER

A good teacher possesses a unique blend of qualities that foster a positive learning environment. They are passionate about their subject matter, effectively conveying complex concepts in an engaging and accessible manner. They create a safe and supportive classroom where students feel valued and encouraged to ask questions and participate actively. Good teachers are also patient and understanding, recognizing that learning happens at different paces for each individual. Moreover, they are adaptable and resourceful, constantly seeking innovative ways to cater to diverse learning styles and needs. By fostering a love for learning and inspiring their students to reach their full potential, good teachers leave a lasting impact on their lives.

As we sum up the first period of our EDU - 011: The Teaching Profession journey, Our learnings from this period have provided us with a comprehensive understanding of the legislative and ethical frameworks that govern the teaching profession in the Philippines. Republic Act 7836, Batas Pambansa Blg. 232 Chapter 3 Section 16, and the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers collectively underscore the importance of professionalism, quality education, and ethical conduct. As future educators, these learnings not only prepare us to meet the standards set by these frameworks but also inspire us to contribute positively to the educational landscape of our country.

The collaboration and engagement of the teacher and parent play a vital role in ensuring a successful and comfortable teaching and learning experience among students. These two individuals play a significant role in nurturing and developing one’s skills and talents. They serve both as role models and mentors, inspiring young minds to become thirstier for knowledge as they weave their futures. The teacher, as a second parent of the students, must ensure a harmonious and professional relationship among his or her students’ parents for them to create and implement different kinds of measures to ensure the students success in their studying venture in the most nurturing and healthy way. Thus, the union between teachers and parents leads to GOAL (Giving Outstanding Assistance to the Learners).
