Tangub City became a vibrant gathering place for unity, friendship, culture, and solidarity as it celebrated the Regional ASEAN Month 2026 Culminating Activity on August 27, 2026, at the Tangub City Peopleโs Gymnasium. Anchored on the theme โSetting Sail for ASEAN 2026: Navigating Our Future, Together,โ the event brought together delegates, educators, and officials from across Northern Mindanao in a grand tribute to regional cooperation and shared aspirations.
As one of the premier Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the region, Tangub City Global College (TCGC) stood proud alongside the Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU-X) and the Local Government Unit of Tangub City as co-hosts of this landmark celebration. The gathering was made possible through the leadership of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office X (CHEDRO-X), the main host of the activity, which entrusted TCGC and its partners to serve as the regional hub for this meaningful observance.
The celebration began with a colorful Solidarity Parade of ASEAN Nations, followed by the entrance of participants, guests, and colors that set a festive to the celebration. The program proper opened with the Preliminaries โ the National Anthem, Invocation, ASEAN Hymn, and Bagong Pilipinas Hymn โ rendered by the University of Northwestern Mindanao(UNM) Chorale. Following the acknowledgement of guests and participants, Dr. Maricelle M. Nueva, President of ALCU-X and TCGC, delivered the Welcome Remarks, warmly welcoming everyone to the gathering.
The cultural richness of the region was then showcased in a spirited Cultural Performance by the GANDAW Performing Arts Group of TCGC. Hon. Sabiniano S. Canama, City Mayor of Tangub City and Chairperson of the TCGC Board of Trustees, next delivered a Message of Support, reaffirming the local governmentโs commitment to education and regional solidarity. A special video message from Dr. Leo D. Camposan, CESE, CHED Regional Director X, followed, highlighting the important role of higher education in regional integration.
The program continued with messages of support from Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, delivered via video. Dr. Christine Nabor-Ferrer, Director of CHED International Affairs Service, also shared a message before the Sons and Daughters Chorale Arts Society of Mountain View College took the stage for a moving musical performance.
Following this, Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, the President of Central Mindanao University(CMU) serve as the keynote speaker, emphasizing the shared vision for ASEANโs future. This was followed by the presentation of the Certificate of Recognition and the Report and Plans of the International Relations Officers Network (IRON-X) by Dr. Joey Genevieve T. Martinez. The event also honored creativity and engagement through the Presentation and Awarding of Winners of the Digital Poster-Making Contest, with CHEDRO-X officials and ALCU-X President and Guests serving as presenters and judges.
Recognition was further extended to Internationally Ranked Higher Education Institutions, as well as Regional and National Qualifiers of the CHED Tourism Start-up Challenge. The program then featured the collective rendition of โOne Vision, One Oceanโ and the ASEAN Theme Song by all participants, followed by the Closing Remarks delivered by Dr. Arlita Amapola B. Minguez, Chief Education Program Specialist of CHED Regional Office X.
The celebration concluded with the singing of the CHED Hymn by the UNM Chorale, followed by the IV. Filipino Delicacies Festival hosted by TCGC โ a final gathering of friendship and shared culture.
