A meaningful afternoon with our Amuma Ranon CMHS (R10 CMHS) community. While the kids trained in Arnis and played, the moms caught up—starting with a short Bible sharing and a CM review of the core areas of knowledge, then exchanging homeschooling tips, listening to each other’s struggles, filling our hearts with stories and encouragement, and our stomachs with plenty of simple but delicious snacks.

Special thanks to Coach Louis for traveling from Bukidnon to train the kids, to Tatay Blu for playing with the kids, and Mr. S. Mercado for his generosity in allowing us to use the place.

Charlotte Mason identified three core areas of knowledge: the knowledge of God, of man, and of the universe. These are essential for a holistic education, with the knowledge of God being indispensable, as it brings true happiness and forms the foundation of all learning.

My question is: Who is God to you? Is He a loving God or an angry God? A forgiving God or a condemning God? Is He just and holy, the Creator or merely a created god?

CM believed that the Holy Spirit is the best educator, that a relationship with the Lord is of utmost importance, and that all knowledge should flow from truth. Apart from God, we are nothing. Children, like us, are wonderfully made in God’s image, yet born into sin and in need of redemption and restoration by grace through Christ alone.

The education our children need should be anchored in our theology—who we believe God is and what His character is like. This education, the greatest of all, is a relationship with the one true God.

The problem is that we are separated from God because of sin. Sin is not only doing wrong; it is also failing to recognize and honor God. According to the Bible, this has a consequence: eternal separation from God—death (Rom. 6:23). Nothing we do can bridge that gap (Rom. 3:23); not riches, power, wisdom, kindness, goodness, morality, sincerity, or devotion because all our works are like “filthy rags” before God (Isa. 64:6).

To find that genuine, beautiful, and intimate relationship with God, we must turn to the only solution: Jesus Christ. In John 14:6, Jesus says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Although we have different beliefs, I still have to say that with love and concern, I do not want any of us to be eternally separated from God and experience its payment in hell. I pray that we, apart from religion, tradition or preference truly come to know the God of creation, the King of kings, the all-knowing and all-powerful God that we may then be able to pass on to our children the most important knowledge of all: the knowledge of God.

And if you are wondering what to do, ask the same question the jailer asked Paul and Silas: He said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, " Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." (Acts 16:31)

It's okay. We know you mean well when you ask that ever-present question: “How does your child socialize?”

Here are just some of the many ways homeschooled kids build friendships and social skills, and yes, we take part in most of them. So no need to worry. Our child socializes well, and we’re intentional about the people and influences we welcome into his life. :)

One of the most common questions homeschool families get is about socialization.

But homeschooled children interact with people every day in churches, co-ops, sports teams, libraries, neighborhoods, and their own communities.

Socialization doesn’t require sitting in a classroom with thirty same-age peers all day.
It happens naturally when children live in the real world.

Homeschooling doesn’t isolate children.
It simply places them in the world instead of a classroom.

neutrality is a myth. if you don’t teach truth, something else will.

Except for the reward, we make every effort to do the others. 😊
