Medical Technology, Physical Therapy Earn PACUCOA Level I Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy programs of Wesleyan University-Philippines (WUP) received Level I Formal Accredited Status (January 2026 to January 2029) from the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) on January 31, 2026.

According to Dean Kay Ann J. Tongol of the College of Allied Medical Sciences (CAMS), they were very thrilled and surprised to receive the news.

“We were very happy to receive the news, especially since we had a hard time with compliance during the previous visit (last November 19–20, 2025.) It is also a surprise to the academic support since this is the first PACUCOA Formal Level I accreditation,” she said.

She also noted how the PACUCOA process demonstrated a preference for online exhibits over traditional printed documents. “The tool is different… PACUCOA accreditors appreciated online exhibits more than printed ones. Perhaps, it is their way of doing their sustainability contribution.”

According to the report of Dr. John Jason Villaroman, Quality Assurance Office (QAO) Director, the other CMAS programs, BS in Pharmacy and BS in Radiologic Technology, remained in Candidate Status.

“The BS in Pharmacy and BS in Radiologic Technology are still under deliberation, but we are hoping for positive results for our University,” he related.

These newly accredited programs were added to WUP’s growing list of programs with formal accreditation levels, bringing the total to 26. The report of the QAO Director also reflected five programs with candidate status and one with associate status.

Those who develop symptoms while on campus should proceed immediately to the University Clinic for proper assessment and assistance.
