Ngayong araw, ating kinikilala at binibigyang-halaga ang mga Katutubong Pilipino—mga tagapag-ingat ng ating kasaysayan, kultura, tradisyon, at pagkakakilanlan. Sila ang mga ugat na nag-uugnay sa atin sa ating pinagmulan at nagsisilbing buhay na patunay ng yaman ng ating pagkatao bilang isang bayan.

Sa pag-alala sa ating pinagmulan, mas nauunawaan natin kung sino tayo at kung ano ang nais nating ipamana sa mga susunod na salinlahi. Kaya’t nararapat lamang na igalang ang kanilang mga karapatan, pahalagahan ang kanilang kultura, at pangalagaan ang mga pamana nilang patuloy na nagbibigay-kulay at kahulugan sa ating pagka-Pilipino.

Sapagkat ang pagkilala sa ating mga ugat ay hindi lamang paglingon sa nakaraan—ito rin ay pag-unawa sa ating kasalukuyan at gabay sa paghubog ng ating kinabukasan.
