Competing alongside other top debaters from across the province, the ISU-Cabagan Debate Team secured 1st Runner-Up in the recently concluded PYDO Inter-School Debate Competition. The team is composed of three executive members of the ISUC Debate Society: President Christian Padilla Ramos, Vice President Nicool D. Basilio, and Secretary Jaymar C. Panaga. Throughout the tournament, the trio navigated a series of rigorous rounds from the eliminations all the way to the finals.
In the elimination round, ISU-Cabagan went head-to-head against PNU-NL on the motion, "THW require CSE Eligibility before running for public office." Representing the Government side, ISU-Cabagan delivered an intense performance that earned them a 3rd-place ranking and a spot in the semi-finals.
During the semi-finals, ISU-Cabagan faced the ISUE Arguers to debate the motion, "THR the rise of Political Content Creators." Arguing from the Opposition side, ISU-Cabagan won a hard-fought match against ISUE, successfully securing their ticket to the championship round.
The final round set up a rematch between ISU-Cabagan and PNU-NL, this time debating the motion, "THBT AI Hubs do more harm than good." Serving as the Opposition, ISU-Cabagan delivered a finals-worthy performance, but PNU-NL ultimately took the top spot, leaving ISU-Cabagan with the 1st Runner-Up title.
This milestone would not have been possible without the support of the ISU-Cabagan Supreme Student Council, OSAS Director Sir Rez Janroe S. Bautista, and the entire ISU-Cabagan Debate Society. Their guidance and backing were instrumental in bringing this achievement home. ๐
Congratulations, Christian, Nicool, and Jaymar!
More than the title, this achievement marks the moment when ISU-Cabagan made its name known in the arena of debating. You have shown that Cabagan can stand among the best, and this is only the beginning.
