During the 43rd Criminology Days of the College of Criminal Justice Education, third-year all-female Criminology students, under the supervision of their instructor, PSSg. Guirlee Ebol, conducted a Close Quarter Battle (CQB) demonstration.
This women-led exhibition served as a compelling display of tactical proficiency, discipline, and operational readiness in high-risk scenarios. It underscored the principle that effectiveness in law enforcement is determined by competence, training, and professionalism rather than gender.
Furthermore, the demonstration advanced the advocacy for gender equality within the field of public safety, while inspiring aspiring female practitioners to pursue careers in law enforcement and security services. It also contributed to strengthening public trust and confidence in the essential role of women in safeguarding communities.
Beyond its function as a training exercise, the presentation symbolized a broader commitment to inclusivity and excellence. It reaffirmed that tactical capability is a human attributeโdeveloped through rigorous preparation, sustained discipline, and unwavering resolve.

On April 17, 2019, the Philippines enacted Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act, recognizing that harassment can happen anywhere: on the streets, in workplaces, in public spaces, in schools, and even online.
As we approach its 7th year of enactment, the message remains clear: everyone deserves safety, dignity, and respect in all spaces.
This law not only defines what constitutes gender-based sexual harassmentโit also affirms that these acts have consequences and that accountability is key to building safer communities.
Ano, tara?
