When disaster strikes, instinct often drives people to save themselves. Yet, there are those whose first thought is the safety of others.
Such was the case during a recent emergency at the Butuan City Hall, when Julius Cesar Agustin A. Azarcon, an ETEEAP alumnus of Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Operations Management, showed genuine courage and compassion.
Amid the urgency, Julius carried a fellow City Government of Butuan (CGB) employee with a walking disability from the third floor to safety, a selfless act that moved everyone who witnessed it.
What makes this even more inspiring is that he himself works on the second floor; he could have easily prioritized his own evacuation. Instead, he chose to act out of pure concern and humanity, proving that true character shines brightest in times of crisis.
“Forced kindness deserves no thanks; willingness to serve does not wait until it is asked for.”
This inspiring gesture serves as a reminder of the values instilled in SJIT’s ETEEAP graduates, leadership through service, empathy in action, and excellence beyond the classroom.
Mr. Azarcon’s deed stands as a proud reflection of the SJIT community, the ETEEAP program, and the enduring spirit of the Butuanon people, proving that education not only builds knowledge but also strengthens character.
Mabuhay ka, Julius Cesar Agustin A. Azarcon! Your actions embody true humanity and service.
