𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧: The Dress Code for Golden Paddlers is temporarily suspended due to the extreme heat conditions experienced in the region and in several parts of the country. As stated in OP Memorandum No. 252, s. 2026, students are now allowed to dress in appropriate, decent, and weather-suitable attire to school, alongside their IDs.

Golden Paddlers are further instructed to bring water bottles, umbrellas, and handheld fans to keep them cool and hydrated as classes are now in full swing. Keep safe, everyone!

The College of Forestry and Environmental Science (CoFES) is now accepting applications for the screening of interested shiftees for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF) program.

Minimum Qualifications:
✅ No failed/INC grades
✅ General Weighted Average (GPA) of 2.50 or better
✅ Must qualify as a 2nd-year BS Forestry student upon evaluation of earned units

Applicants who meet the qualifications are encouraged to accomplish the BSF Shiftee Screening Form.

Dr. Paz presented the university’s 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻–𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲, 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, highlighting the 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻–𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗛𝗨𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗘) 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺. Her presentation showcased community-based approaches that integrate conservation science, education, and stakeholder engagement to promote sustainable coexistence between humans and wildlife.

Following the mini talks, Dr. Paz joined an interactive workshop with international participants to develop innovative conservation education strategies and explore opportunities for adapting outreach approaches across different institutional and ecological contexts. The activity fostered knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and potential partnerships among conservation educators and researchers worldwide.

A significant outcome of the conference was the establishment of new international collaborations. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁 of the University of Montpellier, workshop organizer and Dr. Paz’s host, expressed interest in future collaborative initiatives involving conservation education and scientific publications. Meanwhile, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗘. 𝗥𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 of Iowa State University invited Dr. Paz to participate in the OCELOTS (Network for Facilitating Online Content for Experiential Learning of Tropical Systems) online module development workshop in September 2026. The program will support the creation of research-based educational modules using innovative teaching approaches and digital learning tools.

This opportunity aligns with the proposed MATSING-Skwela Project, which aims to develop localized learning modules on human–macaque coexistence and conservation for elementary and secondary learners in Sumile, Butuan City.

ATBC 2026 served as a valuable platform for global knowledge exchange, strengthening partnerships among scientists and educators committed to advancing tropical biodiversity conservation. Through these emerging collaborations, Dr. Paz continues to contribute to innovative research, education, and extension initiatives toward a more sustainable future for biodiversity.

The College of Forestry and Environmental Science (CoFES) is ready to welcome both our new and returning students for another exciting academic year.

Enrollment for the First Semester will be conducted online. We encourage everyone to follow the designated enrollment schedule, prepare all the necessary requirements, and settle any outstanding clearances to ensure a smooth and efficient enrollment process. Our dedicated Enrollment Advisers and Encoders are ready to assist and guide you throughout your enrollment journey.
