The College Editors Guild of the Philippines has continually been an alliance of student publications that breeds critical and sharp campus journalists in order to further serve the Filipino people.

In its 86 years of advocating for a pro-people journalism, the Guild will hold Regional Student Press Convention. It is a Regional-wide Journalism Skills and Literary Workshop on October 13-15, 2017 in General Santos City with the theme: “The Campus Press Unite for Truth Amid the Spread of Fake News and Alternative Facts”.

This is a chance for fellow campus editors to uphold freedom of expression, press freedom, acquire journalism skills and national pressing situation. The convention seeks to provide an avenue to educate the students on importance of human rights, how it is being violated, and how it may be preserved. It also hopes to guide its members in the continuing struggle against fake news in this day and age of technological advancement.

Regional Student Press Convention will be open to both high schools and college students. The Guild is expecting over 200 student journalist from across SOCSKSARGENDS to attend the convention. The Congress, over the course of two days will hold writing workshops and contests as well as educational discussion and basic masses integration.
