Central Mindanao University and PhilSA Strengthen Space-Enabled Initiatives in Mindanao
QUEZON CITY | August 11, 2026 โ Central Mindanao University (CMU) and the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement under the PhilSA Integrated Network for Space-Enabled Actions towards Sustainability (PINAS) Academe.
Representing CMU President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe was EnP Eric N. Bruno, Director of the Center for Geomatics Research and Extension in Mindanao (GeoMin), while Dr. Gay Jane P. Perez, Director General, represented PhilSA in the presence of Deputy Director General Dr. Dennis Vilorente, and Dr. Mark Edwin A. Tupas, Director IV of the Space Information Infrastructure Bureau.
The partnership strengthens CMUโs capacity to harness space science, remote sensing, GIS, and other geospatial technologies for instruction, research, extension, and evidence-based decision-making. It will support applications in agriculture, environmental and watershed management, disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and natural resource monitoring, particularly for communities in Mindanao.
Through PINAS Academe, CMU further strengthens its commitment to translating space-enabled science and technology into practical solutions for sustainable and resilient communities.
