The Entomology Department successfully kicked off the first day of its hands-on training series titled: "Integrating Black Soldier Fly Technology: A Triple Benefit of Waste Management, Organic Fertilizer Production, and Livestock Feed for Small-Scale Agriculture."

Highlights of the Event
Collaborative Leadership: The training was held in close coordination with Punong Barangay Hon. Juliser P. Salvan and the Sangguniang Barangay Members, ensuring the program aligns with local community development goals.

Hands-on Learning: Participants moved beyond theory, engaging in practical sessions regarding BSF habitat setup and waste processing.

The "Triple Benefit" Focus:
1. Waste Management: Reducing village-level organic waste.
2. Organic Fertilizer: Utilizing BSF frass (by-product) for crop enrichment.
3. Livestock Feed: Providing a high-protein, low-cost alternative for local poultry and swine farmers.

Impact on Small-Scale Agriculture
By integrating BSF technology, the Entomology Department aims to provide San Roque farmers with a self-sustaining "circular" model. This reduces dependence on expensive commercial feeds and chemical fertilizers while significantly improving the barangay's environmental footprint.

On February 13, 2026, the Entomology Department conducted the Inception Meeting for "Integrating Black Soldier Fly Technology: A Triple Benefit of Waste Management, Organic Fertilizer Production, and Livestock Feed for Small-Scale Agriculture" in San Roque, Maramag, Bukidnon. The event was held together with Punong Barangay Hon. Juliser P. Salvan and Sangguniang Barangay Members, promoting sustainable practices for local farmers.
