With grateful hearts and hopeful spirits, the graduating students of Trinidad Municipal College gathered last May 19, 2026 for the Baccalaureate Mass, marking a meaningful pause before reaching one of the biggest milestones of their academic journey.

Students from the College of Criminal Justice Education, College of Computer Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Education came together in prayer and thanksgiving, reflecting on the sacrifices, challenges, and victories that shaped their college life. Surrounded by classmates, mentors, the College President, deans, faculty, staff, and loved ones, the celebration became a reminder that every hardship was worth overcoming.

As graduation day draws near, the Mass served as both an ending and a beginning โ€” a celebration of how far they have come and a hopeful step toward the future that awaits them.

With a distinguished lineup of speakers and researchers, the campus-wide Research Colloquium went in full swing this May 11, 2026. Groundbreaking studies and meaningful conversations lit up the academic community as innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence took center stage. From keynote messages to student-led presentations, the program reflected the passion and commitment of researchers in bridging theory with real-world impact.

Driven by the leadership and support of College President Dr. Julie T. Maestrado, VP for Research, Development and Extension Dr. Ariel C. Rosales, Municipal Vice-Mayor Hon. Joan Robie Cajes-Imboy, Municipal Mayor Atty. Roberto C. Cajes, PhD, Chairman of the Committee on Education Hon. Johnny G. Orioque, and guest speaker Epifelward Niรฑo O. Amora, the day unfolded with research showcases from CCS, COAD, CAS, COEd, and CCJE. The forum on SDG- and GAD-responsive practices proved one thing: research here does not just stay on paper โ€” it inspires, empowers, and moves people.

The institution also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the honored guests from Collegio de Loboc, led by Dr. Marlon Jala, CDL College President, Dr. Jimmy Bucar, CDL Vice President for Research, together with the Collegio de Loboc Faculty, and Staff, for their invaluable presence and support in making the event more meaningful and inspiring for the academic community.

Behind every achievement is a mother who sacrificed quietly, loved endlessly, and believed unconditionally. To all mothersโ€”thank you for being the heart of every home and the light behind every dream.

๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—ง๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—”๐—ฅ๐—ฌ | My Almost Reality, Lost in Our Never

You were never supposed to stay.
Yet I let you come too closeโ€”
as if permanence could be borrowed,
as if love wouldnโ€™t notice
that I was still unfinished.

You arrived softly and quietly,
as if you already belonged
in the broken spaces within me
that I never learned how to fix.

And you loved meโ€”
you loved me as if I were whole,
as if I wasnโ€™t still learning
how to breathe without falling apart,
how to exist
without someone holding me together.

I should have known better.

Because for a moment,
I almost believed itโ€”
that what we had
was becoming real,
that I had finally found
the kind of love
I used to pray for
in silence.

But it wasnโ€™t real.
Not because of you,
but because of me.

I was still unfinishedโ€”
still searching for myself
through borrowed affection,
still confusing being held
with being healed,
still letting someone else
carry what I was supposed to learn
to carry alone.

So I let you slip away.

Not because you failed me,
but because I failed to stay
when I finally found something
worth staying for.

I called it freedom,
but it was fearโ€”
fear of being loved
while still not knowing
how to love myself in return.

And that hurts the most.

Because you were never the mistake.
I was.

You were my almost realityโ€”
so close to forever
that I could feel it in my hands.
Yet I let it slip through,
as if I didnโ€™t deserve to keep it.

And I was your almost personโ€”
the one who could love you,
but not enough to choose you
when it mattered most.

Now all I have left
is the silence I created,
the echo of what I destroyed
through uncertainty,
through fear,
through being me.

And I replay it allโ€”
wondering how it felt for you
to be almost loved
by someone
who never learned how to stay.

And in the end,
thereโ€™s no one left to blame but me.

I was the one who let goโ€”
not because you werenโ€™t enough,
but because I wasnโ€™t ready
to hold something real
while still learning
how to hold myself together.

You stayed gentle even as I left,
as if you understood me
more than I understood myself.

And now all I have left
is a truth I canโ€™t undoโ€”
that I lost you
by choosing fear over love,
silence over staying.

I was my own ending.
I was the reason
it never began.

And thatโ€™s why you were my almost realityโ€”
because I wasnโ€™t ready
to turn you into my clarity.
