A Basic Subject-Verb Agreement.

a singular subject - requires a singular verb
a plural subject - requires a plural verb

EXAMPLES:
She plays at the park.
singular subject - singular verb

They play at the park.
plural subject - plural verb

ME: What is your pet peeve?
Student: I have a pet. My dog is a poodle.
ME: 😳 (patiently repeated the meaning and explained with another example)
