EXPLORING THE FOREST BEYOND THE CAMPUS 🌳🌳🌳

Today, as we celebrate the International Day of Forests, Animo Nature invites you to discover a quiet treasure just beyond the grounds of De La Salle University Laguna Campus.

Accessible from the campus is a forested area that forms part of Laguna's broader natural landscape. Beneath its canopy are winding paths, native trees, insects, birds, and other wildlife that together create a living ecosystem -- one that continues to support biodiversity right beside our learning spaces.

Over the past several months, this forest has also become a living classroom for Lasallian scientists 🕵🏼‍♀️ Six batches of BS Biology interns from De La Salle University Manila Campus have worked patiently along these trails—mapping pathways 🗺️, documenting vegetation 📝, and geotagging 🔖 nearly 2,000 trees using GIS technology. Their work is gradually building a detailed map of the forest, helping us understand the distribution of trees and providing valuable data for conservation, research, and environmental education

Every tagged tree tells a story of growth, of species diversity, and of the careful stewardship needed to protect these ecosystems.

Through Animo Nature, we hope to share more of these discoveries -- revealing the species that thrive here and celebrating the students and researchers who help us see the forest more clearly.

Because sometimes, the forests that inspire us most are the ones growing quietly right beside us 🌱
