The BSU-LT SSG COMELEC officially proclaimed its newly elected BSU-LT Supreme Student Government (SSG) officers.

The proclamation was led by COMELEC Chairperson, Gelise E. Siadto, who formally announced the winners of the recently concluded student government elections.

Following the proclamation, the elected officers took their oath of office administered by University President Kenneth A. Laruan, marking the beginning of their official duties as student leaders.

In his message, President Laruan reminded the officers of the importance of proper communication and maintaining a positive image as a unified team.

The newly inducted officers pledged to uphold the values of transparency, accountability, and service as they begin their term.

The oath-taking concluded with a call for unity among the student body to support the SSG in advancing the welfare and development of the campus community.

Meanwhile, the BSU-LT SSG COMELEC, together with the Bokod and Buguias Campuses, are now preparing for the upcoming Federation of Supreme Student Government (FSSG) elections.

A pleasant and very warm greeting to all BSU-LT students! 🎊

As the recently concluded elections have revealed the leaders who are to take on the role of safeguarding the future of the BSU-LT student body, we, the BSU LT-SSG COMELEC, now declare those who were chosen by your votes. From a thorough screening of the 4,458 ballots cast on August 28, 2025, a total of 4,173 valid votes were sifted.

This has not been possible without the help of every individual who has imparted their dedicated contribution towards the fruition of this event.

Stay tuned for the official proclamation, where we officially welcome the newly elected members to their roles. Exciting times are ahead as the newly elected officers step up to lead, inspire, and serve the BSU studentry. Let's celebrate their dedication to a brighter future.🙌🤝

Votes are currently being tallied by the Supreme Student Government-Committee on Elections (SSG-COMELEC) at the university's Internal Audit Service (IAS) Office.

As of noon today, the total voters' turnout was reported to be 4385 out of 14676 students, equivalent to 29.87% of the student population. As of today, the committee has been tallying for 15 hours and is expected to release the unofficial and partial results by this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Siadto expressed gratitude to the student voters of the university. On the other hand, she also reminded students whose votes had been invalidated to respect their ballots and exercise their right properly.

Finally, she also relayed her message to the future university student leaders.

"In this community wherein students become more apathetic, may the elected leaders be the real catalysts of change; may their intentions in making this university a better place to stay be genuine and truthful; and may they not be the leaders who are easily blinded by the power," her message wrote.

"Whatever happens, we hope our candidates will maintain sportsmanship," she added.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐰, 𝐓𝐚𝐧-𝐚𝐰 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐌𝐃𝐀

After years of having lone political parties running for the student government, two parties, in the form of Silaw and Tan-aw, attended the Miting de Avance (MDA) yesterday, August 27, at the University Gymnasium to face the public and sway their votes for today's election, August 28.

Party presidential candidates Shania Wendy Balaki of Silaw and Andree Abuan of Tan-aw detailed their party's goals. This was then followed by their fellow partymates, who presented their individual platforms. A total of 23 Supreme Student Government (SSG) candidates for AY 2025–2026 were present.

Each candidate participated in three question-and-answer segments: the quickfire segment, where each candidate was given a thumbs-up or thumbs-down sign to express their position on current issues such as medical ma*****na and the separation of the SSG Commission on Elections; the panel Q-and-A; and the open forum.

Benguet State University (BSU) alumna and former Debate Society members Andrew Catayao III and Kenneth Aroco, together with The Mountain Collegian Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor for Print Jaime Bernabe II and Armi-Jay Paragas, respectively, acted as panelists for the second segment.

Despite the MDA not being mandated, it was attended by numerous students from various colleges. This represented a significant improvement from last year's pre-SSG elections, where 15 students out of almost 14,000 attended, according to The Mountain Collegian's report in AY 2024-25.

The MDA was spearheaded by the BSU La Trinidad-SSG COMELEC in collaboration with The Mountain Collegian.
