BNCHS Conducts First SPTA General Assembly;Highlights School Safety and Learning Environment
BAYUGAN CITY — Bayugan National Comprehensive High School held its first School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) General Assembly for school year 2026-2027 on July 19, 2026, bringing together school officials, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to discuss policies, school programs, financial matters, and measures that aims on strengthening safety and security within the school.
The program was formally opened with a welcome message from School Principal III , Minda I. Teposo, who welcomed the parents, teachers, and stakeholders and emphasized the importance of unity, shared responsibility, and active participation in supporting the school's programs and initiatives. She also encouraged the school community to work together in creating a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment for all learners.
One of the major activities during the assembly was the orientation on Department of Education (DepEd) Order No. 6, Series of 2026, which focused on “Ensuring a Safe, Motivating Learning Environment.” The orientation was facilitated by Herlyn D. Asis, School Guidance Counselor II, who discussed the importance of maintaining a learning environment that promotes student welfare, safety, motivation, and positive participation in school activities.
The assembly also featured a discussion on school safety protocols for active shooting and weapon-related incidents.
The session was led by Police Major Kristopher Niel M. Nono, Deputy Chief of Police of Bayugan City. PMAJ Nono highlighted the importance of implementing safety measures such as access control, video surveillance, visitor management, reliable communication systems, and keeping entrances and exits accessible.
It also underscored the need to recognize warning signs of potential violence, including social withdrawal, bullying, excessive irritability, persistent loneliness, and expressions of self-harm or intentions to harm others.
The discussion provided the school community with information on the importance of preparedness, proper coordination, and adherence to established safety procedures in responding to possible threats involving weapons and other security incidents within or near school premises.
Aside from the safety-related discussions, the SPTA General Assembly also tackled several organizational and administrative matters.
The order of business and the calendar of business were presented to guide the association's activities and plans for the school year.
A financial report was also presented during the assembly, providing stakeholders with an overview of the association's financial activities and transactions.
The report formed part of the assembly's efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the management of SPTA funds and projects.
A significant highlight of the gathering was the turnover of the SPTA CCTV project.
The project is expected to contribute to the school's efforts to enhance security and monitoring within the campus and support the creation of a safer environment for students, teachers, and school personnel.
Through the activity, Bayugan National Comprehensive High School reinforced its commitment to promoting a safe, motivating, and supportive learning environment while strengthening stakeholder participation in school governance and development.
