𝙅𝙋𝙄𝘼 𝙂𝙚𝙣 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙙.✨

Stepping into Accountancy is very demanding, oftentimes we ask "Bakit ba andito ako?", "Is the pressure really worth it?", but as Dean Dr. Regina reminded us during her opening address, we are never alone on this path. Let us appreciate the challenging process—even the late nights when the sheets won't balance or the anxiety of standing up for a graded recitation in law subject —because trusting the process builds your character and reminds us that growth doesn't happen in one night but it is a very rewarding path.

Following her, Dept. Head Sir Lindy discussed vital academic policies, retention requirements, and the upcoming 1st Term Examination schedule from September 17 to 23.

A major highlight of the day was celebrating our Top 10 Qualifying Examination passers, led by Justin Andres, Shelley Allison Gavina , and Jessie Love Faiganan . President Mark Anthony then introduced the new JPIA officers and presented the General Plan of Action, which was followed by VPAA Justin officially relaunching the Student Study Group (SSGP) and Accountancy Peer Tutors (APT).

The energy stayed high during the interactive giveaways, featuring a fun challenge where everyone answered consecutive questions until only one person was left standing who couldn't answer anymore! Plus, students who caught the passing basin shared their most meaningful and ALA MMK unforgettable memories, adding plenty of laughs and heartfelt connections to the room.

Sir Lindy brought the assembly to a close with a powerful reminder that accountancy goes far beyond balancing ledgers—it is about shaping the character of an accountant rooted in integrity, good governance, and the noble purpose our profession . He left us with a vital shift in perspective: difficulties and subjects are not just hurdles to pass. Change how you look at the challenges, and always remember why you started—not just for a title, but for the glorious purpose that our accountancy profession represents. 💞

John Lindy R. Soriano, CPA, MSA, Department Head of the Accountancy Department at Saint Mary's University (SMU) in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, represented the Nueva Vizcaya-Ifugao Chapter of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) at a recent regional gathering of Northern Luzon chapters.

Mr. Soriano was elected Sectoral Director for Education of the Nueva Vizcaya-Ifugao Chapter for Fiscal Year 2026-2027. He joined fellow officers from the Northern Luzon Chapters at the Turnover and Oathtaking Ceremony, themed "Honoring the Past, Empowering the Present, Inspiring the Future," held on July 31, 2026 at the Tuscany Hotel in Baguio City.

The oathtaking was preceded by a leadership seminar featuring two resource speakers. Col. Diosdado Carlos D. Pambid, INF (MNSA) PA, Assistant Chief of Staff for G5, discussed critical thinking within the context of a leader's mindset. Dr. Andrew S. Macalma, RPsy, RPm, LPT, followed with strategies for empowering leadership.
