𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧-𝐮𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The VSU community came together on September 19, 2026, for the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) 2026, gathering at the VSU Lower Oval before joining the university-wide environmental initiative.

Among the dedicated volunteers were members of the Graduate Education community, including the ever-supportive Education Research Assistant I (ERA) and Administrative Officers, Maricar B. Posas and Aniceta M. Lumacad, alongside the Graduate Students Society (GSS) Officers and international students.

Joining volunteers from various departments, offices, colleges, and organizations across VSU, the Graduate School delegation took part in the collective effort to promote environmental responsibility and contribute to cleaner and healthier coastal communities.

Beyond the clean-up activity itself, the ICC 2026 served as a meaningful reminder that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. The participation of graduate students, staff, and international students also highlighted the spirit of volunteerism, unity, and community engagement that continues to thrive within the VSU community.

With every hand that helped and every piece of waste responsibly collected, the VSU community once again demonstrated that meaningful environmental action begins with collective commitment.

𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 (𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐀)

Visayas State University held its 2026 Academic Convocation on September 18, 2026, at the VSU Gymnatorium, highlighted by the delivery of the Third State of the University Address (SOUA) by VSU President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes.

The significant gathering brought together members of the VSU community, including the Graduate Education Office staff, faculty, and students, in a shared moment of reflection, recognition, and renewed commitment to the University’s continuing pursuit of excellence.

During her address, Dr. Yepes presented the University’s achievements and milestones, highlighting key accomplishments and developments across various areas of VSU’s operations. She also discussed ongoing and upcoming projects, initiatives, and future plans, providing the university community with a clearer view of the institution’s direction and aspirations.

The Third SOUA likewise presented data and key indicators that will help guide the University in achieving its targets, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based planning, collective action, and continuous improvement. Alongside these accomplishments and plans, Dr. Yepes addressed pertinent concerns and challenges within the University, underscoring the need for collaboration and responsive solutions among members of the VSU community.

The 2026 Academic Convocation served not only as an avenue to look back on the University’s journey but also as a reminder of the collective responsibility to move VSU forward. With its accomplishments as a foundation and its plans as a guide, the VSU community continues to STRIDE forward in unison toward a stronger, more responsive, and more impactful university.

𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃𝐑𝐎 𝐕𝐈𝐈𝐈–𝐆𝐒𝐃 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐎𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 | Visayas State University

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VIII – Graduate Scholarship Division (CHEDRO VIII–GSD) conducted an Onsite Monitoring Activity at Visayas State University on September 16, 2026, as part of its continuing efforts to monitor and strengthen the implementation of CHED scholarship programs for graduate students.

Representing the CHED SIKAP Scholarship Program were Mr. Johnrey M. Venigas and Mr. Jodel C. Olaya, who visited the Graduate Education Office to discuss and review relevant data concerning VSU scholars affiliated with the CHED SIKAP Scholarships.

During the activity, the CHED SIKAP representatives and the Graduate Education Office discussed the available records and information on VSU scholars, including matters related to their scholarship affiliation and academic status. The discussion also provided an opportunity to clarify pertinent details and ensure that scholarship-related data are properly documented and updated.

The onsite monitoring activity highlights the importance of collaboration between CHEDRO VIII and Visayas State University in ensuring the effective administration, monitoring, and support of graduate scholarship programs. Through initiatives such as the CHED SIKAP Scholarships, qualified faculty members and professionals are provided opportunities to pursue advanced studies and further enhance their knowledge and competencies.

The Graduate Education Office expresses its appreciation to CHEDRO VIII–GSD and CHED SIKAP representatives Mr. Johnrey M. Venigas and Mr. Jodel C. Olaya for their visit and continued collaboration in supporting VSU scholars.
