𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 | 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗩𝗦𝗨 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀

Please be informed that the temporary Compressed Workweek (CWW) arrangement for all VSU officials and employees across all campuses will be discontinued.

Effective September 1, 2026 (Tuesday), all VSU employees will return to the regular onsite work schedule, from Monday to Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. This means eight hours per day and 40 working hours per week.

In accordance with existing Civil Service Commission rules and regulations, any substitution, offsetting, CWW, flexitime, or remote work arrangement must have prior written approval from the immediate supervisor.

All VSU officials and employees are reminded to follow regular work schedule and help ensure the continuous, smooth, and timely delivery of services across VSU.

All university measures on energy conservation and responsible use of resources remain in force. Everyone is encouraged to use electricity, fuel, facilities and equipment wisely.

This advisory is based on Memorandum Circular No. 229, series of 2026, issued by the Office of the President.

The Graduate Education, Visayas State University (VSU) proudly recognizes the participation and accomplishments of its graduate scholars at the 11th University Consortium Graduate Forum 2026, held at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia, with the theme:

“Building Research Capacity for Food Security: Innovating Solutions for Sustainable Systems.”

Representing Visayas State University were Mr. Enrico Pitogo Bargamento of VSU Main Campus and Mr. Agner Anthony Ocleaza of VSU Tolosa, who presented their respective research studies and contributed to the international academic discourse on food security, agricultural modernization, and sustainable rural development.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Mr. Enrico P. Bargamento for being recognized as Best Presenter during the forum.

Mr. Bargamento presented his research entitled:

“Negotiating Modernization: Tenant Lived Experiences with Rice Farming Technologies in Rural Philippines.”

His presentation was recognized under:

Subtheme 2: Policy and Governance in Food Security Research
Subtheme 4: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Food Security

His study examined the lived experiences of tenant farmers in Barangay Tuguipa, Hilongos, Leyte, focusing on the challenges and realities surrounding the adoption of modern rice farming technologies. The research emphasizes the importance of inclusive governance, equitable risk-sharing, localized extension services, and participatory approaches in advancing sustainable and food-secure rural communities.

The presentation was evaluated by Plenary Speaker Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Nur Azura Adam and Chairperson Dr. Nurul Nadia Ramli.

As Best Presenter, Mr. Bargamento received the Best Presenter Award and a cash prize of RM 150.

The Graduate Education, VSU also proudly recognizes Mr. Agner Ocleaza (VSU Tolosa) for his participation and contribution to the forum as a VSU representative. His participation reflects the commitment of VSU graduate scholars to engage in international academic platforms, share relevant research, and contribute to meaningful discussions on food security and sustainable development.

The participation of both scholars highlights the quality, relevance, and growing international presence of graduate research at Visayas State University. Their contributions demonstrate VSU’s continuing commitment to advancing research that responds to the needs of communities and addresses pressing challenges in agriculture, food security, governance, and sustainable development.

Our Master of Science in Horticulture candidate, MR. JULIUS CAEZAR E. DUMARAOG, is now set for the final thesis examination of their study entitled "OPTIMIZATION OF IN VITRO STERILIZATION AND SHOOT PROLIFERATION OF (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) USING SILVER NANOPARTICLES AND THIDIAZURON"

Their defense is scheduled on August 19, 2026, at the DOH, Conference Room, and will be closed to the public. We are posting this to keep everyone informed about this important milestone in their graduate journey.
