๐ ๐ฃ๐๐ฅ๐๐ก๐งโ๐ฆ ๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐๐ | โWe are proud of youโnot only because of what you have achieved, but because of the person you are becoming.โ
Speaking on behalf of the parents during the 2nd Sashing and Pinning Ceremony, Mr. Danilo D. Rollo, father of outgoing TORAH President Amaze Buntia, shared a heartfelt message of pride, faith, encouragement, and unwavering parental support.
He reminded the students that behind every achievement is a story of sacrifice, hard work, prayer, and the love of a family. More than celebrating what they have accomplished, he encouraged them to continue becoming responsible, compassionate, and God-centered individuals who study diligently, serve others, honor their parents, and remain faithful to their calling.
โThis ceremony is not the end of your journey; it is another step toward your calling and your future.โ
His message also reminded fellow parents that their children need not only financial support, but also their prayers, understanding, emotional presence, and spiritual guidance as they move forward.
Thank you, Mr. Rollo, for giving voice to the pride, hopes, prayers, and love of every parent who witnessed this meaningful milestone.
May God continue to bless and guide our future tourism professionals as they pursue their dreams and use their lives in service to others.
To God be all the glory! โบ๏ธ

๐ง๐๐ ๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐๐ | โDonโt just look for a job in tourism. Look for a way to matter.โ
During the 2nd Sashing and Pinning Ceremony of the BS Tourism Management Program, our inspirational speaker, Mr. Jonathan C. Estrella, Municipal Tourism Officer of Silago, Southern Leyte, reminded our future tourism professionals that a meaningful career is measured not only by personal success, but also by the lives touched and the opportunities created along the way.
Whether serving as tour guides, hospitality professionals, entrepreneurs, or future tourism leaders, he encouraged our students to help visitors understand destinations, make every guest feel welcome, create opportunities for others, and ensure that tourism benefits the people and communities behind every destination.
His message leaves our students with an important question: not simply, โHow many tourists can we bring?โ but, more importantly, โHow many lives can we improve?โ
May our future tourism professionals pursue careers that do more than bring people to places, may they serve with purpose, lead with compassion, and use tourism to make a meaningful difference.
Thank you, Mr. Estrella, for sharing your journey, wisdom, and inspiring message with our . ๐

๐ฆ๐๐๐๐๐ข, ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ โ The Department of Tourism Management (DTM) of Visayas State University recently visited the Municipality of Silago, Southern Leyte, to participate in the Second Quarter Joint Meeting of the Municipal Tourism Development Council (MTDC) and the Local Culture and Arts Council (LCAC).
As representatives of the academe sector, DTM faculty members actively participate in both councils, contributing their knowledge and expertise to local tourism, culture, and heritage development initiatives.
During the visit, the DTM faculty also had the opportunity to see the ongoing construction of the Silago Ridge-to-Reef Museum, a project that traces its roots to the proposal that placed third in the Tourism Champion Challenge. The department looks forward to the museum's completion and opening, which will provide a dedicated space for showcasing Silago's rich cultural and natural heritage, including the municipality's remarkable s***m whale bone and other significant local assets.
Beyond the classroom, the Department of Tourism Management believes that education becomes more meaningful when it is shared with and used for the communities it serves. Its continued engagement with Silago reflects DTM's commitment to meaningful community partnerships, sustainable tourism development, and initiatives that help preserve local heritage while creating opportunities that uplift the lives of communities.
From the classroom to the community, DTM continues to turn knowledge into meaningful action for tourism, culture, and people.

The Department of Tourism Management welcomed its newest , ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐น๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฌ, during the departmentโs Student Onboarding Program for the First Semester of AY 2026โ2027.
The onboarding introduced the freshmen to the faculty and staff of the department and provided an overview of the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) program. Students were also oriented on the courses they will take throughout their academic journey, as well as the departmentโs expectations, goals, and opportunities, including internship, thesis, and educational tours.
More than an orientation, the activity served as an opportunity for students to understand where their four-year journey can lead and what they can begin doing today to reach their aspirations. Setting clear goals early in their college journey allows students to make purposeful decisions, track their progress, and remain focused even when challenges arise.
As the newest members of the community, the freshmen were reminded that a successful college journey begins with knowing what they want to achieve and taking intentional steps toward it.
