This grant is specially awarded to select BSA-Plant Protection major students specializing in Entomology through the generosity of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗖. 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮 (Maria Juliet Ceniza), Adjunct Professor in Entomology at the Department of Pest Management of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science.

The inception meeting formally launched CSI Program II, comprising seven project components. One of these is Project 6: Identification of Alternate Hosts, Evaluation of Other Potential Natural Enemies, Entomopathogens, and Biorationals for Sustainable CSI Mitigation, which is being implemented at the Department of Pest Management, Visayas State University under the leadership of Dr. Robelyn T. Piamonte. The project is supported by the Study leaders, Dr. Justine Bennette Millado, Dr. Jay Darryl Ermio, Dr. Mannylen Merioles, Ms. Mari Neila Quintos, Ms. Roda Capacao, Ms. Fely Falcone, Ms. Myrelle Enriquez and Mr. Melvince Martirez, who oversee the respective study components.

Partners for biodiversity 🦋🌱

Mr. Jayson Pucot, doctoral researcher of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle (MNHN) in Paris, France, and Mr. Eugene Logatoc, Faculty member at the Institute of Biological Sciences and Curator for the Botanical Herbarium at the UPLB Museum of Natural History, University of the Philippines Los Baños, paid visit to the VSU Museum of Natural History to examine specimens of Fulgoridae and bryophytes.

A partnership is being brewed for future collaborations on taxonomy and biodiversity studies between the three institutions ✨
The researchers were welcomed by current museum curator, Dr. Justine Bennette Millado yesterday, July 24, 2026. 🐝💐🌱
