🌟 A SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL-BASED IN-SERVICE TRAINING FOR TEACHERS 🌟

Luta Sur National High School successfully concluded its School-Based In-Service Training for Teachers on September 11, 2026, an enriching day filled with meaningful discussions, professional learning, collaboration, engaging activities, and the sharing of best practices among teachers.
The training began with the Preliminaries, setting a positive and purposeful atmosphere for a day dedicated to strengthening teachers’ knowledge, skills, and professional practices.
📚 SESSION 1: Enhancing Teacher Competence on Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)
The first session was facilitated by Ma’am Jocelyn B. Catimbang, who provided a comprehensive discussion on Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and their importance in developing learners who can analyze, evaluate, create, and apply knowledge in meaningful situations.
Her discussion went beyond concepts as she generously shared practical classroom strategies and best practices that teachers can use to integrate HOTS into their daily lessons and learning activities.
🏫 SESSION 2: School Improvement Plan (SIP) Projects
Ma’am Jocelyn B. Catimbang also led the discussion on School Improvement Plan (SIP) Projects, emphasizing the importance of purposeful planning, collaborative implementation, and responsive interventions that address the identified needs of learners and the school community.
The session highlighted how well-planned SIP projects can contribute to continuous school improvement and better learner outcomes.
📖🔢 SESSION 3: Effective Teaching Strategies to Enhance Learners’ Achievement in Literacy and Numeracy Skills
The third session focused on one of the most essential priorities in education—strengthening learners’ literacy and numeracy skills.
Ma’am Jennifer S. Magbojos shared her best practices in Literacy, presenting practical and engaging strategies that can help teachers develop learners’ reading, comprehension, communication, and other foundational literacy skills.
Meanwhile, Ma’am Leizel C. Villaruel shared her best practices in Numeracy, highlighting effective approaches for developing learners’ mathematical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in working with numbers.
The session served as an avenue for teachers to exchange ideas and discover classroom practices that can be adapted to improve learner achievement.
📝 SESSION 4: Strengthening Classroom Assessment for Learning
The fourth session was facilitated by Ma’am Maybel M. Din, who provided an insightful discussion on Strengthening Classroom Assessment for Learning.
She also discussed DepEd Order No. 15, s. 2026, providing teachers with a clearer understanding of the updated assessment guidelines and their implications for classroom practice. The discussion emphasized that assessment should not merely measure learning but should also guide instruction, provide meaningful feedback, and support learners in achieving better outcomes.
🎯 LEARNING THROUGH ENGAGEMENT
Beyond the presentations and discussions, the training became even more meaningful through the engaging activities prepared for the teachers. These activities brought energy, excitement, and enjoyment to the sessions while allowing everyone to actively participate, collaborate, reflect, and apply what they had learned.

Ma’am Merrywin P. Rodelas presented the highlights of the whole training, capturing the key learning points, realizations, and meaningful experiences shared throughout the sessions.
A challenge was then posed by Ma’am Maybel M. Din, inspiring the teachers to translate their learning into meaningful action in their respective classrooms. Ma’am Mary Rose N. Dipasupil accepted the challenge on behalf of all the teachers, signifying the collective commitment of the Luta Sur NHS teaching force to put learning into practice.
🚀 WAYS FORWARD
The training continued with the presentation of the Ways Forward by Ma’am Chona L. Dizon, providing teachers with clear directions and commitments for sustaining the gains of the training and ensuring that the knowledge and strategies acquired will be carried into classroom practice.
🏆 RECOGNITION AND CLOSING ACTIVITIES
The Awarding of Certificates was led by Ma’am Jelly O. Sumadsad, recognizing the participation, dedication, and commitment of teachers throughout the training.
The Closing Remarks were delivered by Ma’am Rea H. Reyes, who emphasized the value of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional commitment in providing quality education to every learner.
This was followed by the Closing Prayer led by Ma’am Stephanie G. Capili, bringing the successful training to a meaningful close.
Throughout the entire activity, the program was efficiently managed by Ma’am Wendy Nica C. Morcilla, whose dedication and coordination contributed significantly to the smooth and successful conduct of the training.
