๐๐ค๐ง๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ช๐ง๐ฉ๐ก๐ ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ is celebrated every year on June 16th to raise awareness about the importance of sea turtles. The day also encourages global supporters to dive into the threats that sea turtles face.
In the year 2000, turtle conservation organizations came together to create ๐๐ค๐ง๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ช๐ง๐ฉ๐ก๐ ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ. June 16th was chosen to honor the birthday of Dr. Archie Carr, a renowned sea turtle conservationist. Dr. Carr also founded the Sea Turtle Conservancy in Gainesville, Florida.
Unfortunately, nearly every species of sea turtle is considered endangered. Entanglement in marine debris, destruction of habitats, and poaching for meat and eggs are among the top reasons for their endangerment.

On this day, conservation organizations and zoos organize a variety of events. These events include exhibits, beach cleanups, and educational seminars on how to protect the sea turtles. To participate:
๐ขDonate to a marine wildlife organization that works to protect the sea turtles.
๐ขAdopt a sea turtle through the Marine Conservation Society.
๐ขAvoid throwing plastic and other harmful debris into waterways and encourage others to do the same.
๐ขWatch movies that feature sea turtles, such as Finding Nemo, A Turtleโs Tale: Sammyโs Adventures, Turtle: The Incredible Journey, and Moana.

This day is celebrated to learn more about the intelligent and magnificent birds and let everyone know that these birds need protection in the wild as they face life threats like habitat loss and wildlife trades.
The population of several parrot species is declining due to several threats to the population and wellbeing of parrots. Some of the most significant threats include habitat loss, climate change, and wildlife trading. World Parrot Day offers a chance to highlight the threats that these stunning birds are facing.
This day can be celebrated in a variety of ways. You can plant trees since habitat loss is a major threat to parrot populations. You may also contribute to conservation efforts and encourage your friends and family not to keep any wild birds.
Interesting Parrot Facts:
๐ฆ The Kakapo parrot, a rare species found only in New Zealand, is the only flightless parrot.
๐ฆ A group of parrots is called pandemonium.
๐ฆ These fascinating birds have 4 toes on each foot, two pointing forward and two projecting backward.
๐ฆ Macaws eat damp soil to neutralize chemicals in their fruity diet.
๐ฆ Hyacinth Macaw is the largest of all parrot species. It has a wingspan of over 4 feet.

Celebrated every year on the last Wednesday of May (May 25th this year). This day was founded by the International Otter Survival Fund (IOSF). In 2009, it started as Otterly Mad Week and became International Otter Awareness Day in 2014. In 2016, the annual event evolved into World Otter Day. World Otter Day is observed to raise awareness about otters and their protection.
Otters are found on every continent except Australia and Antarctica.
๐ฆฆ These mammals have the densest fur of any animal, with as many as a million hairs per square inch in places.
๐ฆฆ While most species live in freshwater rivers, lakes, and wetlands; the sea otter and the smaller marine otter are found in the Pacific Ocean.
๐ฆฆ Their webbed feet and powerful tails act like rudders in the water making them strong swimmers.
๐ฆฆ There are 13 species of this weasel, the smallest species small-clawed otter weighs 3kg, while the largest species giant otter weighs 45 kg.
๐ฆฆ When they are in the water, their nostrils and ears close to keep water out.
Their fur is waterproof and keeps them warm in cold water.
๐ฆฆ While most otter species come ashore to give birth, sea otters are an exception, giving birth in water.
๐ฆฆ When it is time to nap, sea otters entangle themselves in kelp or sometimes intertwine their feet with other sea otters so they donโt float away.
๐ฆฆ Did you know that all otters are expert hunters that eat fish, crustaceans, and other critters?
๐ฆฆ To open shellfish, sea otters float on their back and place a rock on their chest, then smash the mollusk down on it until it breaks open.

Observed every 23rd of May throughout the world since 2000, World Turtle Day is celebrated to bring attention to, and raise awareness of the conservation and protection of turtles and tortoises.
Turtles and tortoises are shelled creatures that can be found in virtually all corners of the globe and have found their way into parables, mythology and all forms of popular media. Both turtles and tortoises are creatures who play tremendous roles in their respective ecosystems. Whether itโs by digging holes that are habitable for other creatures or cleaning up dead fish from beaches, there are more than enough reasons to ensure their protection.

Today, May 22, we celebrate the ๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ to promote and support for biodiversity.
The theme for this year is "๐ฝ๐ช๐๐ก๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ ๐จ๐๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ช๐ฉ๐ช๐ง๐ ๐๐ค๐ง ๐๐ก๐ก ๐ก๐๐๐", fitting within the context of the ongoing United Nations Decade on Restoration. This highlights that biodiversity remains the answer to several sustainable development challenges. It is the foundation from ecosystem-based approaches to climate and/or nature-based solutions to climate, health issues, food and water security and sustainable livelihoods upon which we can build back better.

By celebrating World Bee Day every May 20th, we can raise awareness of the essential role bees and other pollinators play in keeping people and the earth healthy, as well as the numerous challenges they face today. We've been celebrating this day since 2018, courtesy to the efforts of the Slovenian government, with the support of Apimondia, which pushed the UN General Assembly to establish May 20 as World Bee Day.
This year's theme for the World Bee Day is "๐ฝ๐๐ ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐๐: ๐พ๐๐ก๐๐๐ง๐๐ฉ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐จ๐๐ฉ๐ฎ ๐ค๐ ๐๐๐๐จ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐จ๐ฎ๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ข๐จ". By this theme, The United Nations focused on the importance of a wide variety of bees and threats of protection to bees, other pollinators and beekeepers. The UN also urged upon bee-keeping systems awareness and the importance of bee-derived products.
Bees, pollinators, and a variety of other insects are in decline today. This day allows all of us โ whether we work for governments, organizations, or civil society, or are concerned citizens โ to promote initiatives that will safeguard and enhance pollinators and their habitats, increase their abundance and diversity, and support the long-term growth of beekeeping.

๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐ by celebrating, learning about, and taking action to protect threatened and endangered species. This global day of action and celebration was created and founded by David Robinson and the Endangered Species Coalition in 2006, and has continued ever since.
Earth is home to more than 16,000 species of plants, animals, fungi, and algae that are currently listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. In the U.S. alone, nearly 700 species of animals and 900 species of plants are considered threatened or endangered. Given that human-made threatsโsuch as habitat fragmentation, overhunting, overfishing, global warming, invasive species, and pollutionโare the major drivers of modern extinctions and population declines, the preservation and recovery of endangered species depend on human awareness and intervention.
The Philippines is home to 5% of the worldโs flora and ranks fifth worldwide in terms of number of plant species. The country ranks fourth worldwide in bird endemism. The Philippines is home to over 700 threatened species, making it one of the worldโs most important conservation sites.
The national list of threatened animals was created in 2004 and comprises 42 land mammal species, 127 bird species, 24 reptile species, and 14 amphibian species. The Philippines has at least 3,214 fish species, with roughly 121 being indigenous and 76 being threatened.
